The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
From 6:00 a.m. on 09/14/2023 through 6:00 a.m. on 09/15/2023, MPD received 461 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (98),East (93), Midtown (68), North (79), South (44), West (69), and Other (10). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

MIDTOWN: Road Rage – 8:13 a.m. A pedestrian reported a driver displayed a handgun out the window. Investigation continuing.
EAST: Death Investigation – 9:01 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (47-year-old male). Medical Examiner's office responded. Decedent had a history of health/medical concerns. Nothing suspicious identified.
SOUTH: Mental Health Response – 12:01 p.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject. The subject was taken into protective custody and conveyed to a local hospital. Transport to Winnebago pending. Domestic charges also pending for the subject.
EAST: Stolen Auto – 3:15 p.m. A vehicle was reported stolen. Attempt to locate aired. Investigation continuing.
NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 3:15 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 31-year-old female subject (not on scene when officers arrived). Probable cause developed to arrest the subject once she is located.
WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 4:10 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 34-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, battery and strangulation.
CENTRAL: Hit-and-Run – 5:40 p.m. Officers received a report that a child was struck by a vehicle's mirror and that the vehicle/driver did not stop. The child sustained non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle was identified and she reported that she saw kids run into the street and she heard a thud. She stated she was looking for a place to park and when she came back to the area the kids were gone. Witness statements taken. Investigation continuing.
CENTRAL: Check Area – 8:52 p.m. Two subjects reported they were in a vehicle with a male driving (whom they could not or would not fully identify) when they made plans to meet up with another vehicle at a convenience store (for reasons they would not share). An argument started and the subjects reported that were shot at with a BB gun. Investigation continuing.
MIDTOWN: Check Person – 9:14 p.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject was contacted and placed into protective custody. The subject was conveyed to a local hospital. Emergency detention sought/approved. Transport to Winnebago pending. Criminal charges for the subject also forthcoming.
NORTH: Disturbance – 11:23 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 35-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed, possession of drug paraphernalia and a probation/parole hold.

CENTRAL: Domestic Disturbance – 1:58 a.m. Dispatch received a report of a male subject (33-year-old) forcing a female subject into a vehicle and leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Shorewood Hills Police Department located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. MPD responded. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct.
