City-Wide Notable Calls 12/12/2023 to 12/13/2023

The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 12/12/2023 through 6:00 a.m. on 12/13/2023, MPD received 430 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (77), East (77), Midtown (76), North (61), South (53), West (71), and Other (15). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

NORTH: Mental Health Conveyance – 9:49 am. A man made suicidal statements while at a hospital. Officers transported the patient to a different medical facility for additional care.

NORTH: Residential Burglary – 4:06 pm. A man called 911 to report that someone was inside his family's home. Officers formed a perimeter while others went through the home. No suspect was located.

NORTH: Stolen Auto – 4:11 pm. A man reported having his vehicle stolen from where it was parked on the street. The theft was listed in the appropriate database. 

NORTH: Accident Hit and Run – 5:46 pm. A 17-year-old was struck by a vehicle while running to try and catch the bus. The vehicle fled the area. The victim was released to the care of his mother.

SOUTH: Death Investigation – 7:29 pm. A person was found deceased at their home from a likely overdose.

MIDTOWN: Found Person– 7:37 pm. A woman walked away from her group home. She was located in a nearby city.

EAST: Disturbance – 10:34 pm. A man was taken into protective custody. Crisis workers in support of an emergency detention.

NORTH: Suspicious Vehicle – 12:06 am. An officer witnessed a sedan ram into a tow truck and vehicle at the intersection of Portage Rd. and E. Washington Ave. The vehicle sped away as officers attempted a traffic stop. It was spotted later on by another agency and a pursuit took place. The pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle crashed. The suspect was arrested for eluding and other traffic violations. 
 
EAST: Exposure – 12:29 am. A man was touching himself in a public area of a shelter. The man was arrested for lewd and lascivious acts.
