The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
From 6:00 a.m. on 02/08/2024 through 6:00 a.m. on 02/09/2024, MPD received 427 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (72), East (76), Midtown (63), North (85), South (51), West (68), and Other (12). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Priority calls for service only between 3:20pm and 4:10pm.
02/08
EAST: Death Investigation – 6:20 am. A 55-year-old man was discovered deceased in his residence. Nothing suspicious on scene.
CENTRAL: Residential Burglary – 8:32 am. Officers responded to an apartment building where a 21-year-old male suspect was caught on camera stealing packages. The suspect was arrested for trespass and a warrant. No victims of the theft have come forward.
CENTRAL: Disturbance – 1:32 pm. Officers responded to State St where the 34-year-old female suspect shoved, threatened and attempted to punch the victim. The suspect was arrested and charged with battery, disorderly conduct, resisting, threats to law enforcement, many counts of bail jumping and warrants.
EAST: 911 Multiple/Nuisance Calls – 2:59 pm. Officers responded to a residence for a report a disturbance involving an armed suspect. The residents of the home reported they were fine and there was no disturbance. Officers determined it was a swatting call.
MIDTOWN: Check Property – 3:15 pm. Officers responded to an apartment building where a man was reportedly seen in a hallway with a gun. Officers contacted residents of an apartment where juveniles had access to facsimile firearms. No charges were substantiated. CPS was contacted.
MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 4:38 pm. Officers responded to a gas station where the 53-year-old male suspect swore at the clerk and swung the bag containing his purchase at him. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, discharging bodily fluids and resisting.
MIDTOWN: Traffic Crash – 5:10 pm. Officers responded to the intersection of Mineral Point Rd and S Gammon Rd where two vehicles collided. One driver was cited for no insurance and a red signal violation. A second driver was cited for a yellow signal violation.
MIDTOWN: Mental Health Conveyance – 6:12 pm. Officers responded to a hospital to assist with an emergency detention. The subject was transported to a mental health facility.
WEST: Missing Adult – 9:14 pm. Staff at a group home reported a resident missing. The man was listed as missing and an ATL was aired.
EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 10:56 pm. Officers responded to a residence where the 69-year-old male suspect was throwing bottles at a door behind which the victim was hiding. The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

CENTRAL: Check Person – 4:00 am. Officers responded to a residence to check someone's welfare. No one was located at the apartment. Investigation continuing.
