The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
From 6:00 a.m. on 4/16/2024 through 6:00 a.m. on 4/17/2024, MPD received 307 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (56),East (73), Midtown (53), North (42), South (34), West (45), and Other (4). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Traffic Stop – 1:14pm: A vehicle, involved in a recent weapons offense, was observed by an off-duty officer. Officers responded and the driver/vehicle fled. MPD terminated the pursuit which is then picked up by the State Patrol and Monona PD. The vehicle was abandoned and the occupants fled on foot. The driver (21-year-old male) was apprehended. A gun was recovered. Charges forthcoming. Investigation continuing.
North/Domestic Disturbance – 1:37pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 39-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic battery and a probation/parole hold.
North/Death Investigation – 4:53pm: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a 23-year-old female subject. Entry made to the residence and the subject was located deceased (self-inflicted). Nothing suspicious identified. Medical Examiner's office responded.
West/Disturbance – 6:35pm: Officers responded to a disturbance. A victim sustained injuries which required stitches. A 32-year-old male subject has conditions to not be around the victim. He was arrested for felony bail jumping. The subject who assaulted the victim has yet to be identified.
Central/Disturbance – 8:38pm: Officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving an armed (with a knife) 34-year-old female subject. Subject barricaded herself in an apartment and was not cooperative with officers. K9 responded. Subject has outstanding warrants. Probable cause with new charges established. The subject was arrested for 2nd degree reckless endangering safety, resisting, threats to law enforcement, disorderly conduct while armed and discharge of bodily fluids at law enforcement. A 28-year-old female subject was arrested for resisting.
North/Check Person – 9:04pm: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject. The subject was contacted and voluntarily admitted at a local hospital.
North/Juvenile Arrest – 10:57pm: A 16-year-old female subject was arrested for resisting and conveyed to the Juvenile Reception Center. The juvenile had removed a screen and entered a home to be with her friend, who is in foster care. The foster parent found out and asked the juvenile to leave. The juvenile refused and police were called.
