The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
From 6:00 a.m. on 5/22/2024 through 6:00 a.m. on 5/23/2024, MPD received 520 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (51),East (99), Midtown (115), North (86), South (70), West (83), and Other (16). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Midtown/Disturbance – 7:34am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 43-year-old male subject. The subject was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. The subject was left in the care of medical staff and issued citations for criminal damage to property, possession of drug paraphernalia and trespassing.
Midtown/Domestic Disturbance – 8:06am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 47-year-old male subject (not on scene). Probable cause developed to arrest the subject. Subject remains at-large.
Central/Check Person – 11:59am: Two minors were dropped off at the Central District by their grandmother who stated the children's mother was in jail and that CPS would be picking up the children. CPS contacted and took custody of the children.
Central/Adult Arrested Person – 2:12pm: A 46-year-old male subject was observed to be in violation of his bail conditions. The subject was arrested for 3 counts of misdemeanor bail jumping.
North/Sexual Assault of a Child – 3:04pm: Officers received a report of sexual assault of a child. Investigation continuing.
South/Animal Complaint – 3:57pm: Officers responded to a report of animal abuse/neglect. A dog was located inside a residence in very bad shape with no food or water. Per video, no one has been in the residence for over a week. Animal Services took custody of the dog. Probable cause developed to arrest the owner (48-year-old female) of the dog. The owner/subject remains at-large.
East/Death Investigation – 5:48pm: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject (80-year-old female). Entry made to the residence and the subject was located deceased. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
Midtown/Check Area – 7:40pm: Officers responded to a report of a subject with a gun at Allied Park. Officers canvassed the area. The subject was not located. No witnesses on scene. Investigation continuing.
West/Disturbance – 9:22pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 21-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for attempted battery to law enforcement and resisting.
North/Domestic Disturbance – 11:37pm: Officers responded to a disturbance. No charges substantiated regarding a disturbance. A 22-year-old female subject was found to be in violation of bail conditions. The subject was arrested for bail jumping.

Central/Assist Police – 12:22am: Maple Bluff PD requested assistance from MPD as they were in pursuit of a fleeing vehicle. The vehicle crashed and the occupants bailed on foot. Drugs and a firearm magazine were located/recovered. Two subjects were located/detained. A 37-year-old male subject was arrested on a parole warrant and two counts of resisting. The second subject was released.
