The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
From 6:00 a.m. on 6/11/2024 through 6:00 a.m. on 6/12/2024, MPD received 490 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (81),East (99), Midtown (80), North (88), South (66), West (66), and Other (10). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Central/Adult Arrested Person – 5:45am: A 58-year-old male subject, with an active warrant, was taken into custody and transported to jail.
Midtown/Mental Health Response – 9:08am: Officers took a subject into protective custody and transported them to a local hospital for an evaluation. Final outcome pending.
Central/Adult Arrested Person – 10:07am: A 27-year-old male subject, with an active warrant, was taken into custody and transported to jail.
East/Death Investigation – 2:24pm: Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (44-year-old male subject). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified at this time. Autopsy scheduled.
North/Adult Arrested Person – 3:16pm: A 21-year-old female subject was arrested on outstanding probable cause on numerous charges (6 counts of felony retail theft, resisting, operating a motor vehicle without consent, 2 counts of using OC spray).
East/Discharge of Weapon – 3:29pm: A subject was cleaning their handgun and accidently pulled the trigger which fired a round. Subject injured. The subject was transported to a local hospital. Citation issued for discharge of a firearm within city limits.
North/Check Person – 3:33pm: Officers responded to check the welfare of a subject who reported they cut themselves. CARES responded and officers disengaged.
Midtown/Sexual Assault – 6:42pm: A victim reported being sexually assaulted. A 63-year-old male subject was arrested for 4th degree sexual assault and disorderly conduct.
North/Domestic Disturbance – 11:24pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 17-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property, child abuse, disorderly conduct while armed, strangulation, and bail jumping.

South/Death Investigation – 1am: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (80-year-old female). The subject was awake upon officers' arrival and transported to a local hospital where they were later pronounced deceased. Nothing suspicious identified.
Midtown/Missing Adult – 4:15am: A 40-year-old male subject was reported as missing. Attempt to locate aired. The subject was entered as missing in the appropriate databases. *Subject located/contacted in Iowa.
