City-Wide Notable Calls 06/28/2024 to 07/01/2024

The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

06/28

CENTRAL: Trespass – 4:12 a.m. Officers responded to the 300 block of Butler Street after a woman found a stranger in her home going through her refrigerator. The 44-year-old female suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct and trespassing.

NORTH: Battery– 4:42 a.m. Officers respond to reports of a man battering guests at two hotels. The suspect punched and injured a responding officer. A 41-year-old male suspect arrested for four counts of simple batter, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and entry into a locked vehicle.

NORTH: Weapons Offense– 8:56 a.m. A person reported having a gun waved at her while meeting up with an acquaintance. No probable cause developed. Investigation continues.

CENTRAL: Retail Theft – 12:30 p.m. Suspect attempted to steal items from State Street store. Officers respond as the suspect is exiting.

CENTRAL: Sexual Assault – 12:36 p.m. Victim reported being sexually assaulted by an acquaintance. Investigation continues.  

NORTH: Information – 2:45 p.m. Officers dispatched to an active shooter. Arriving officers were notified a business was testing their notification system, resulting in an alert being sent out.

WEST: Disturbance – 8:46 p.m. Suspect started a flower bed on fire, which damaged a home on Brompton Circle. Charges pending for disorderly conduct and arson.

CENTRAL: Check Property – 9:32 p.m. Officers were on patrol along the 700 block of E. Gorham St. A 27-year-old male was detained on a probation hold. Drugs were located inside his vehicle. Suspect was booked into the Dane County Jail on his probation hold, drug possession charges and possession of drug paraphernalia charges.

MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 9:33 p.m. A man yelled at and attempted to get into vehicles outside a fast-food restaurant on Regent Street. The man also threatened responding officers. 41-year-old suspect arrested for disorderly conduct, threats to law enforcement and two counts of bail jumping. Incident Report completed.

EAST: Accident with Injuries – 9:41 p.m. Multiple people called to report a woman crashed her vehicle into a tree near Sycamore Park. Officers responded and woman taken to the hospital for her injuries.

CENTRAL: Intoxicated Driver – 11:18 p.m. Officers doing a pro-active OWI enforcement operation noticed a vehicle stuck on the railroad tracks near First Street and E. Washington Ave. A 29-year-old male driver was arrested for second-offense OWI.

SOUTH: Traffic stop– 7:30 a.m. An officer did a proactive patrol on the Beltline for speeding. Four traffic stops made for 91 mph, 90 mph, 90 mph and 87 mph made. Incident Report completed.

SOUTH: Trespass– 8:35 a.m. Property management asked a man to leave their pool area. Man returned a short time later.

WEST: Trespass– 10:10 a.m. Victim reported having their SUV stolen Friday night or Saturday morning. Vehicle found abandoned in another jurisdiction.  

NORTH: Disturbance – 11:24 a.m. Multiple people reported seeing a group of juveniles fighting on Lafollette Ave. Officers arrived and no fighting was taking place. Incident report completed.

EAST: Intoxicated Driver – 2:53 p.m. A 21-year-old male suspect was arrested for driving under the influence following a crash at Highway 30 and E. Washington Ave. A gun was found in the vehicle. Incident Report completed.

NORTH: Death Investigation – 3:16 p.m. Officers dispatched to a home. Nothing suspicious noted.

SOUTH: Disturbance – 3:19 p.m. Multiple people called to report two teens fighting. A third teen tried to intervene and fight responding officers. All three teens were taken to the Juvenile Reception Center. Incident Report completed.

CENTRAL: Sexual Assault – 11:31 p.m. Woman reported seeing a man sexually assault the victim. The victim was taken to the hospital for an FNE exam.

06/30

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 1:44 a.m. A juvenile called to report an altercation at his home. Child Protective Services notified.

NORTH: Assist Police– 1:59 a.m. An outside law enforcement agency was involved in a pursuit and requested assistance. MPD placed tire deflation devices. Four people were detained.

EAST: Intoxicated Driver – 5:43 a.m. A woman was arrested for her fourth-offense OWI. Open containers of alcohol found inside the vehicle. Incident Report completed.

NORTH: Sexual Assault – 8:53 a.m. Staff member reported being sexually assaulted by a patient.

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 9:19 a.m. Officers contacted for a report of a stolen auto and conflict between roommates.

CENTRAL: Bomb Incident – 12:55 p.m. Man received an email from an unknown person indicating a bomb threat at three properties. No suspicious items were located. Owners of each property unsure why they would be targeted. Likely swatting. Investigation ongoing.  

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 4:48 p.m. Officers respond after a man refused to leave a home. Man arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia.

WEST: Disturbance – 8:14 p.m. A woman called police after seeing a man yell at a girl walking her dog. Incident Report completed.

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 8:42 p.m. Woman reported being assaulted by a man. Probable cause exits for intimidation of a victim, domestic disorderly conduct and battery.

CENTRAL: Disturbance – 9:14 p.m. Woman arrested after attempting to hit a bar employee after being kicked out of the establishment. Incident Report completed.

WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 10:19 p.m. Officers dispatched for a disturbance. Woman was arrested for battery and domestic disorderly conduct.

07/01

CENTRAL: Domestic Disturbance – 12:28 a.m. A victim reported being punched by the suspect. Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect for substantial battery.

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 1:24 a.m. A woman called for help after a man threatened and hit her. Man was taken to the Dane County Jail for domestic disorderly contact and battery.
