City-Wide Notable Calls 07/12/2024 to 07/15/2024

The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 7/12/2024 through 6:00 a.m. on 7/15/2024, MPD received 1,465 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (297),East (282), Midtown (231), North (275), South (142), West (217), and Other (21). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Priority calls only from 10:28am-10:54am due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 11:31am-5:23pm due to calls for service.

East/Disturbance – 4:36am: Officers responded to a disturbance. A subject was transported to a local hospital for a medical clearance. Plan is to convey the subject to detox and cited him for disorderly conduct.

North/Trespass – 8:26am: Officers responded to a report of trespassing by a 48-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested on outstanding warrants and cited for trespassing.

East/Crash – 9:59am: Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash with minor injuries. A 64-year-old male driver was cited for red signal violation.

East/Check Person – 10:07am: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. Contact made with the subject at their residence, but only through a door (subject not observed). Decision made to disengage at this time.

West/Disturbance – 10:09am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 31-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for resisting, possession of drug paraphernalia and felon in possession of OC.

North/Disturbance – 11:26am: Officers responded to a report of a male subject chasing another subject with a hatchet. Investigation leads to several subjects being detained. An 18-year-old male subject was arrested for possession with intent to deliver marijuana and disorderly conduct while armed. A 17-year-old male subject was arrested for strong armed robbery.

Central/Mental Health Response – 1pm: Officers responded to a subject who had ingested numerous antidepressant pills. The subject was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. The subject was not cooperative. Emergency detention being sought. Criminal charges may also be forthcoming. Final outcome pending. *Subject transported to Winnebago. Probable cause written for several criminal charges.

East/Adult Arrested Person – 3:15pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 46-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed, battery, false imprisonment, intimidation of a victim, 2nd degree reckless endangering safety and an outstanding warrant.

Central/Adult Arrested Person – 3:17pm: A 27-year-old female subject, wanted, was located and taken into custody (misappropriation of ID, misdemeanor bail jumping, and a felony warrant.

South/Adult Arrested Person – 6:34pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 52-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct.

Midtown/Mental Health Conveyance – 9:05pm: Officers responded to a local hospital for a subject in need of a Chapter 51 return. The subject was transported to Winnebago. Criminal charges also forthcoming.

Priority calls only from 2:50pm-9:16pm due to calls for service.

East/Battery – 1:21am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 22-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for battery, disorderly conduct, and threats to law enforcement.

North/Stolen Auto – 1:24am: A vehicle was reported stolen. The vehicle was located unoccupied. A 32-year-old male subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent. A 33-year-old male subject was arrested on an outstanding warrant. A female subject (unknown age at the time of this writing) was arrested for possession of cocaine.

Central/Substantial Battery – 2:46am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 22-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for substantial battery and disorderly conduct. A 21-year-old female subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and battery. A 20-year-old male subject was arrested for disorderly conduct.

North/Adult Arrested Person – 6:11am: A 38-year-old male subject, wanted, was located and taken into custody without incident (parole warrant).

East/Sexual Assault – 7:07am: Officers responded to a report of a sexual assault involving a 65-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for 4th degree sexual assault and a probation hold.

East/Domestic Disturbance – 9:57am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 35-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, resisting, misdemeanor bail jumping (2 counts), and felony bail jumping.

Central/Adult Arrested Person – 10:44am: A 26-year-old male subject, wanted, was taken into custody (domestic-related charges, 2 counts of misdemeanor bail jumping, battery, and theft.

Midtown/Runaway Juvenile – 12:42pm: A 17-year-old male subject was reported as a runaway. Attempt to locate aired. Areas checked. The subject was listed as a runaway in the appropriate databases.

Midtown/Disturbance – 6:07pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 38-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting.

Midtown/Disturbance – 7:50pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 33-year-old female subject. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who remains at-large.  

South/Domestic Disturbance – 11:14pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving an 18-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct while armed.  

East/Runaway Juvenile – 11:57pm: A 15-year-old male subject was reported as a runaway. Attempt to locate aired. The subject was listed as a runaway in the appropriate databases. *Juvenile located safe.

North/Battery – 12:27am: Officers responded to a battery involving a 39-year-old male subject. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who remains at-large.  

Midtown/Death Investigation – 5:54am: Officers responded to a local hospital for a deceased subject (45-year-old male). The subject was at the hospital visiting a patient and was located unresponsive in a bathroom. Drug paraphernalia located on the decedent. Nothing suspicious identified at this time. Autopsy pending.

Midtown/Crash – 7:25am: Officers responded to a crash with injuries. Both drivers claim they had a green light. Both drivers transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Investigation continuing.

Central/Mental Health Conveyance – 11:11am: Officers responded to the jail for a subject in need of an emergency detention. The subject was transported to a local hospital. Final outcome pending.

North/Disturbance – 4:12pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 45-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for possession of meth, disorderly conduct while armed, an outstanding warrant, and felony bail jumping.

East/Sexual Assault – 6:26pm: Officers respond to a report of a sexual assault.  

Central/Missing Adult – 10:15pm: Officers searched for a 90-year-old woman with dementia who sent missing. Officers, K-9 team, and drone operator respond. Woman was found safe near her home.

West/Domestic Disturbance – 11:53pm: Officers responded to an argument between two people. When officers went to arrest a 34-year-old suspect, the suspect resisted. He was ultimately taken to the Dane County Jail for domestic battery and resisting arrest.

Central/Disturbance – 12:56am: Officers respond to a disturbance between three people. During the disturbance, a man swung a skateboard at another man. A 35-year-old male was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed. A 40-year-old male was arrested for bail jumping.

Midtown/Burglary Residential – 1:42am: Officers dispatched to multiple car alarms going off. They located 15 vehicles that someone broke into or attempted to break into. Investigation ongoing. Incident Report completed.

Midtown/Mental Health Conveyance – 3:24am: Officers respond to a person feeling suicidal. Patient transported to hospital.
