The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
From 6:00 a.m. on 7/17/2024 through 6:00 a.m. on 7/18/2024, MPD received 488 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (79),East (100), Midtown (67), North (87), South (74), West (74), and Other (7). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

West/Check Area – 9:15am: Officer heard a single gun shot (2100 block of Leland). No other callers, no reported injuries or property damage.
East/Disturbance – 9:22am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 57-year-old female subject. A male subject was treated on scene by EMS. Female subject is at-large. Investigation continuing.
North/Death Investigation – 10:48am: Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (63-year-old male). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified at this time. Autopsy pending.
East/Strong Armed Robbery – 12:40pm: Officers responded to a strong armed robbery involving a 43-year-old male subject. The subject was not on scene when officers arrived. Probable cause developed to charge/arrest the subject. Subject remains at-large.
South/Adult Arrested Person – 1:58pm: Officers responded to a report of a theft involving a 21-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for discharge of bodily fluids at a public safety worker, a probation hold and issued a municipal citation for retail theft.
East/Strong Armed Robbery – 2:01pm: A victim was physically attacked by a male subject who demanded money. Investigation continuing.
Central/Disturbance – 3:55pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 55-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and physical abuse of an elder.
East/Death Investigation – 7:41pm: Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (79-year-old male). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
East/Check Person – 7:49pm: Officers responded to check the welfare of a subject. The subject was transported to a local hospital for a Chapter 51 return. Subject turned over to third-party transport for final destination/placement.
East/Mental Health Conveyance – 9:10pm: Officers responded to a disturbance. A subject was transported to a local hospital where an emergency detention was sought/approved. Transport to Winnebago pending.

South/Domestic Disturbance – 12:01am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 34-year-old male subject. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who remains at-large.
