The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 8/16/2024 through 6:00 a.m. on 8/19/2024, MPD received 1,361 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (277),East (277), Midtown (206), North (214), South (164), West (193), and Other (30). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

West/Found Person – 1:05am: A missing subject from a group home returned home and was removed as missing from the appropriate databases.

Central/Adult Arrested Person – 4:44am: A 52-year-old male subject was arrested on a probation warrant.  

North/Homicide – 8:47am: A 42-year-old male subject was arrested for 1st degree intentional homicide and felon in possession of a firearm.  Medical Examiner's office responded to a residence for a victim.

East/Adult Arrested Person – 8:47am: Officers responded to a business for an unwanted subject refusing to leave the premises where they are banned from. The 41-year-old female subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and felony bail jumping.

Central/Threats Complaint – 12:51pm: Probable cause was developed to arrest a 44-year-old male subject (who remains at-large) on numerous charges. Attempts were made to locate the subject. Investigation continuing.

East/Adult Arrested Person – 3:48pm: A young child was brought into a clinic with numerous concerning injuries. Probable cause was developed to arrest a 29-year-old male subject. Attempts were made to contact the subject. The subject was ultimately located and arrested (charges not known at the time of this writing).

Central/Mental Health Response – 4:15pm: Officers responded to a report of an uncooperative subject with CARES. The subject was contacted by officers and ultimately transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. Journey Mental Health plugged in. Final outcome pending.

North/Check Person – 6:24pm: Officers responded, along with EMS, to a report of a subject who caused themselves harm. The subject was transported to a local hospital. Journey Mental Health consulted. The subject is cooperative at this time and officers disengaged.

East/Adult Arrested Person – 8:22pm: A traffic stop was attempted. The driver (54-year-old male subject) fled. The subject then barricaded himself in his vehicle. The subject exited his vehicle holding a knife and a facsimile firearm. The subject was arrested for eluding. Additional charges may be forthcoming.

Central/Adult Arrested Person – 11:12pm: A traffic stop was conducted. A 40-year-old female subject was arrested for possession of codeine without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia. A second subject (40-year-old female) was arrested on possession of a variety of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

South/Sexual Assault – 1:14am: A sexual assault was reported. Investigation continuing.

East/Child Neglect – 4:46am: Officers responded, along with MFD, to a report of a vehicle on fire in a park-and-ride lot.  A driver (39-year-old male) was found behind the wheel of the vehicle with his foot constantly revving the engine until it was smoking (driver/subject was unconscious). Three young children were in the vehicle. Female subject in the vehicle (35-year-old) appeared to be under the influence. The male subject was arrested for felony neglect (2 counts), misdemeanor neglect, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense) and probable cause from a previous incident for domestic charges. The female subject was arrested for misdemeanor and felony neglect charges. Child Protective Services took custody of the children.

West/Domestic Disturbance – 7:21am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 27-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, domestic battery, resisting, and 2 outstanding warrants.

Central/Crash – 9:45am: Officers responded to a motor vehicle vs. bicyclist crash. The bicyclist was conveyed to a local hospital in critical condition. Investigation continuing.

East/Death Investigation – 10:36am: Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (63-year-old male). Medical Examiner's office responded. Drug paraphernalia located. Nothing suspicious identified at this time. Autopsy pending.

Midtown/Disturbance – 11:27am: Officers responded to a disturbance between neighbors. A subject was transported to a local hospital where an emergency detention was sought. Final outcome pending. *Transport to Winnebago pending. Criminal charges also forthcoming.

Central/Adult Arrested Person – 4:09pm: Officers responded to a report of a 35-year-old male subject throwing rocks, trash cans, and construction barrels at passing vehicles. The subject attempted to flee on foot when officers arrived. The subject was apprehend and arrested for disorderly conduct, threats to law enforcement, and an outstanding warrant.  

East/Domestic Disturbance – 5:26pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 55-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

East/Disturbance – 6:04pm: Officers responded to a report of a victim being pistol whipped. A 30-year-old male subject was arrested for 2nd degree reckless endangering safety, substantial battery, and disorderly conduct.  

North/Runaway Juvenile – 10pm: A 14-year-old male subject did not return to his juvenile DOC placement. The juvenile cut off his GPS bracelet and his whereabouts are unknown. The juvenile was entered as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases.

East/Domestic Disturbance – 11:48pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 30-year-old male subject. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject (who remains at-large).

Central/Weapons Offense – 3:39pm: A victim was located with a stab wound and another injury. The subject was conveyed to a local hospital for treatment. The subject reported having their cell phone and wallet taken from them. The victim/subject obtained medical care and was transported to jail on an outstanding warrant. Investigation continuing.

North/Sexual Assault of a Child – 4:36am: Officers investigating a sexual assault of a child allegation. Investigation continuing.

East/Adult Arrested Person – 4:40am: A 35-year-old male subject was arrested for possession of burglarious tools.

Central/Battery – 5:29am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 25-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for battery.

Midtown/Traffic Arrest – 10:24am: An officer observed a 37-year-old male driver/subject pass on double yellow lines and was head on with the officer and another vehicle. Traffic stop was conducted. The driver was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana, carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a firearm within 1,000 ft of a school, and issued numerous traffic citations.

South/Child Abuse – 12:31pm: A 43-year-old female subject was arrested for physical abuse of a child. Child Protective Services took custody of the child.

East/Juvenile Arrest – 3:14pm: Victim reported that 3 subjects pulled a knife on them and struck them in the face. Officers arrived in the area and detained 3 subjects who were observed running away from the area. A knife was not observed. The victim stated they would accept an apology from the 3 juveniles and no charges. The juveniles apologized. One of the subjects (14-year-old male) however was listed as missing and had an outstanding warrant. He was transported to the Juvenile Reception Center.

West/Death Investigation – 3:52pm: Officers responded, along with MFD, to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (27-year-old male). The subject was determined to be deceased. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified. Death appeared to be accidental in nature.

Midtown/Domestic Disturbance – 3:53pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 21-year-old male subject. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject (who remains at-large).

West/Juvenile Arrest – 5:34pm: A 16-year-old female subject was arrested reference two disturbances. The juvenile was charged with disorderly conduct while armed, criminal damage to property (2 counts), and battery.

East/Death Investigation – 7:56pm: Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (35-year-old male). Drug paraphernalia observed. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified at this time.

Central/Disturbance – 10:31pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 44-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, disorderly conduct while armed, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and bail jumping.

East/Domestic Disturbance – 11:52pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 36-year-old male subject. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject (who remains at-large).

Central/Adult Arrested Person – 12:47am: A banned subject (54-year-old female) was observed and contacted. The subject was arrested on several counts of bail jumping.

West/Disturbance – 12:49am: Officers responded to a report of a banned subject (45-year-old male) at a business. The subject fled from officers, but was apprehended. The subject was arrested for resisting and cited for trespassing and retail theft.
