The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 8/23/2024 through 6:00 a.m. on 8/26/2024, MPD received 1,373 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (308),East (257), Midtown (210), North (225), South (173), West (173), and Other (27). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

North/Stolen Auto – 11:17am: A vehicle was reported as stolen. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases. Possible suspect identified.

Midtown/Crash – 11:43am: Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash. Non-life threatening injuries sustained. One vehicle sustained severe damage. Investigation continuing.

Midtown/Crash – 12:09pm: Officers responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash. The pedestrian sustained significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Investigation continuing. 16-year-old female driver was cited for failure to yield to pedestrian in crosswalk.

North/Intoxicated Driver – 12:53pm: Officers responded to a single-vehicle crash. The driver (43-year-old female) was determined to be impaired and was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (3rd offense). The driver was also issued several traffic citations.

West/Missing Child – 1:39pm: Officers responded to a report of a missing 3-year-old child. Areas searched. Child found safe and returned home. Child Protective Services notified.

East/Child Abuse – 2:03pm: Officers responded to a report of child abuse. Child Protective Services plugged in. Child to be placed with a family member while CPS responded to facilitate safety planning. No criminal charges substantiated at this time.

South/Intoxicated Driver – 5:12pm: Officers responded to parking lot for concerns for a driver/subject (44-year-old female). Traffic stop initiated. Driver stopped but then took off. The driver pulled over again and tried to flee on foot but was apprehended. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (3rd offense) and eluding.  

East/Disturbance – 9:45pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 27-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for simple battery and disorderly conduct.

Midtown/Disturbance – 11:14pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 35-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed.

Midtown/Disturbance – 11:48pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 21-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for simple battery and disorderly conduct.

Priority calls only from 10:16pm to 11:14pm due to calls for service.

East/Check Person – 1:07am: Officers responded to a retail theft. Contact was made with the subject who was exhibiting extremely odd behavior. The subject was taken into protective custody and transported to a local hospital. Journey Mental Health plugged in. Subject has an active Chapter 51 return in place. Placement pending. The subject will also be issued a citation for retail theft.

East/Missing Adult – 7:15am: A 32-year-old male subject was reported as missing. Areas checked. Attempt to locate aired. The subject was listed as missing in the appropriate databases.

Central/Adult Arrested Person – 9:01am: A 64-year-old male subject was arrested for having open intoxicants.

East/Non-Residential Burglary – 9:05am: A business reported finding their cash drawer, with cash still left in it, on the back side of the business. Front door to the business was smashed by a large piece of concrete. Investigation continuing.

East/Death Investigation – 10:28am: Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (26-year-old male). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.

East/Theft – 11:15am: Officers responded to a report of a wanted subject (33-year-old male) on scene. The subject was contacted and arrested for theft of an e-bike.

Midtown/Intoxicated Driver – 1:30pm: Officers responded to a single vehicle crash. The driver/subject (65-year-old female) was determined to be impaired. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense).

Central/Disturbance – 4:29pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 39-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and misdemeanor bail jumping (3 counts).

Central/Fight Call – 8:21pm: Officers responded to a disturbance at the Beacon. A 55-year-old male subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed, felon in possession of a knife, and some pending drug-related charges pending identification.

South/Domestic Disturbance – 9:42pm: Officers met with a victim who reported domestic abuse, including stalking. A 34-year-old male subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, stalking, and bail jumping (2 counts). The subject was also arrested on outstanding probable cause from a previous incident.

Central/Disturbance – 9:43pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 34-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for resisting/obstructing, disorderly conduct, misdemeanor bail jumping, felony bail jumping, and battery to law enforcement.

East/Battery – 10:47pm: Officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving a 26-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for substantial battery.  A 68-year-old male subject/bystander was arrested for duty to aid victim or report crime.

Central/Traffic Incident – 12:22am: A traffic stop was attempted. The driver (17-year-old male) stopped briefly but took off at a high rate of speed.  No pursuit took place.  Vehicle was later observed and two subjects fled on foot (both remain at-large). Drugs and a gun were located in the vehicle. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who remain at-large. Additional follow-up/investigation on-going.

North/Domestic Disturbance – 1:51am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 44-year-old male subject. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who remains at-large.

Central/Battery – 2:36am: Officers were flagged down regarding a disturbance involving a 26-year-old male subject. The subject was not cooperative with officers. The subject was arrested for battery, battery to law enforcement, resisting, and disorderly conduct.

Midtown/Battery – 4:19am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 35-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for battery to healthcare worker, a probation violation, resisting, and disorderly conduct (2 counts).  

Central/Intoxicated Driver – 6:04am: An intoxicated 20-year-old male subject stole a vehicle, damaged 4 additional vehicles, dumped the vehicle and fled on foot. The subject was apprehended. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense), operating a motor vehicle without consent, criminal trespass to energy provider property, and felony bail jumping. The subject also received citations for not having a driver's license, reckless driving, and hit-and-run.

North/Domestic Disturbance – 12:01pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 40-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic battery (2 counts), domestic disorderly conduct (2 counts), criminal damage to property, and a probation/parole hold.

West/Crash – 1:59pm: Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash. A 41-year-old male driver was cited for a red signal violation. Minor injuries sustained. An uninvolved party/subject (64-year-old male) became impatient with traffic and drove through the crash scene, striking a vehicle from MFD.  The driver did not stop and was ultimately pulled over and cited for hit-and-run.

Midtown/Mental Health Response – 4:28pm: Officers responded to a local hospital for a subject in need of an emergency detention. Journey Mental Health plugged in. Chapter 51 in place. The subject was admitted to the hospital and officers disengaged.

Central/Fight Call – 6:16pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving numerous subjects. 3 subjects (25-year-old female, 24-year-old female, and 17-year-old female) were arrested for battery and disorderly conduct.

East/Disturbance – 9:23pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 35-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for resisting and discharge of bodily fluids at a public safety worker.  

East/Adult Arrested Person – 9:32pm: A 34-year-old female subject, with probable cause for her arrest, was located and arrested for physical abuse of a child.

North/Intoxicated Driver – 1:20am: A 56-year-old male driver/subject struck a squad that was parked with officers nearby. The driver/subject went into a ditch. The subject was found to be impaired. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (3rd offense).
