The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 9/6/2024 through 6:00 a.m. on 9/9/2024, MPD received 1,321 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (249),East (253), Midtown (208), North (228), South (171), West (187), and Other (25). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Priority calls only from 7:24am to 3:03pm due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 11:16pm to 7:01am due to calls for service.

West/Adult Arrested Person – 7:20am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a gun. Subjects contacted by officers. A 30-year-old female subject was arrested for 2nd degree reckless endangerment, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession with intent to deliver cocaine. A 37-year-old male subject was arrested for battery.

Midtown/Crash – 7:22am: Officers responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash. Minor injuries sustained. A 42-year-old female driver was cited for failure to yield to pedestrian.

South/Disturbance – 9:43am: Officers responded to a disturbance. The subject was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. Final outcome pending.

Midtown/Threats Complaint – 10:55am: A 22-year-old male subject made threats to shoot up a hospital and potential random people. Phone ping conducted. Areas checked. Unmanned Aircraft System deployed. Other agencies plugged in, including Journey Mental Health. Subject located/taken into custody after he actively resisted officers. The subject was arrested for terroristic threats, disorderly conduct, and resisting.

West/Domestic Disturbance – 4:13pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 30-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, and a probation hold.

South/Disorderly Conduct – 4:23pm: Officers responded to a report of a 50-year-old male subject threatening bus riders and other passerbys. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting. The subject was not cooperative through the booking process and was taken to segregation at the jail.

Central/Check Person – 4:32pm: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject chasing bicyclists on a bike path. The subject was contacted and transported to a local hospital where an emergency detention was sought. Final outcome pending. Probable cause also developed to charge the subject for battery and disorderly conduct (2 counts).  *Subject transported to Winnebago.

North/Domestic Disturbance – 9:40pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 23-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic battery and disorderly conduct.

East/Disturbance – 10:28pm: Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated subject (26-year-old male) causing a disturbance at a business. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting, and a probation/parole hold.

Central/Check Area – 10:38pm: Officers made contact with subjects in a parking lot in the 400 block of W. Gilman St. A subject was found to be armed. During the contact, shots were fired by MPD. No subjects struck or injured. Several subjects detained. The Dane County Sheriff's Department is leading this investigation. West/Domestic Disturbance – 7:40am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 32-year-old male subject. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, once he is located.

South/Check Person – 9:27am: Officers responded to an adult family home for a resident who threatened staff.  Staff did not want to pursue charges and only wanted the resident to be talked to.  Officers had a conversation with the subject and disengaged.

North/Disturbance – 11:26am: Officers responded to a disturbance. An 18-year-old male subject was arrested for physical abuse of a child and strangulation. A 19-year-old female subject was arrested for physical abuse of a child. A 17-year-old female subject was given an order-in for battery.  

Central/Death Investigation – 11:57am: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject (76-year-old male). Entry made to the residence and the subject was located deceased. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.

Midtown/Non-Residential Burglary – 12:23pm: Officers responded to a business after the front door was found with damage and a 31-year-old male subject was inside. The subject was arrested for burglary and bail jumping.

Midtown/Domestic Disturbance – 3:25pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 33-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, battery, intimidation of a victim, theft, bail jumping, and a DOC hold.

West/Adult Arrested Person – 8:50pm: Officers responded to a business for an unwanted subject (45-year-old male). The subject was transported to jail to post on a trespassing citation.

East/Check Person – 11:42pm: Officers responded to a report of a subject engaging in self-harm. The subject was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. Emergency detention sought/approved. The subject was transported to Winnebago.

Priority calls only from 7:17pm to 8:23pm due to calls for service.

South/Disturbance – 1:49am: Officers responded to a report of a disturbance that involved a vehicle being stolen. The vehicle was located/recovered. Victims sustained minor injuries. Investigation continuing.

South/Disturbance – 4:15am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 40-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for 2nd degree reckless endangering safety, physical abuse to a child, disorderly conduct while armed, and battery.

West/Damaged Property – 7:07am: Numerous vehicles were reported to have been broken into on/around Strathmore Lane. Investigation continuing.

West/Domestic Disturbance – 11:33am: A victim reported numerous incidents of domestic abuse involving a 38-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon.

West/Child Abuse – 3:34pm: A child was brought into urgent care for injuries they sustained the night before. A 39-year-old male subject was arrested for physical abuse of a child. Child Protective Services plugged in.

Midtown/Adult Arrested Person – 5:39pm: A stolen vehicle was located/recovered. A 45-year-old female subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent and bail jumping.

East/Adult Arrested Person – 5:51pm: Officers responded to a parking lot to check the welfare of a subject (44-year-old male) slumped over in a vehicle. The subject was contacted. The subject was arrested for possession with intent to deliver meth.

North/Adult Arrested Person – 11:11pm: Officers responded to a report of a disturbance. No charges substantiated. A An 18-year-old male subject was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

North/Domestic Disturbance – 2:42am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 29-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia.
