The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
From 6:00 a.m. on 10/7/2024 through 6:00 a.m. on 10/8/2024, MPD received 504 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (68),East (107), Midtown (95), North (84), South (61), West (75), and Other (14). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Central/Disturbance – 7:04am: Officers responded to a report of a subject screaming and glass breaking. Contact is made with a subject. Family member responded to assist reference mental health concerns/follow-up. Officers disengaged.
East/Death Investigation – 9:44am: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject (39-year-old female). Entry made to the residence and the subject was located deceased. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified at this time.
North/Disturbance – 10:31am: Officers responded to a report of a physical disturbance between an adult and a minor. A 36-year-old female subject was arrested for physical abuse to a child.
East/Crash – 3:50pm: An officer/squad was struck by another vehicle as they were responding to a fight call. Both vehicles sustained damage. Investigation continuing.
West/Runaway Juvenile – 4:07pm: A 14-year-old male subject (with Autism) was reported as missing/runaway. Attempt to locate aired. Areas checked. The subject was located and returned home.
East/Adult Arrested Person – 4:34pm: Officers responded to a report of a subject threatening another subject with a knife. A 35-year-old male subject was identified as the suspect. The suspect was not on scene but was later contacted and detained by Monona PD. The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and a DOC hold.
North/Residential Burglary – 11:22pm: Officers responded to a residential burglary. A subject was contacted and detained. The subject was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. Criminal charges forthcoming. Final outcome pending.

South/Adult Arrested Person – 12:31am: A 33-year-old male subject was arrested on a DOC hold.
Midtown/Death Investigation – 1:59am: Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (89-year-old male). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
