The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 10/18/2024 through 6:00 a.m. on 10/21/2024, MPD received 1,304 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (288),East (281), Midtown (191), North (210), South (144), West (141), and Other (49). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

10/18

South/Crash – 7:24am: Officers responded to a crash with a report of a subject running from the scene. Areas checked. Subject not located. Investigation continuing.

Central/Adult Arrested Person – 10:21am: Officers responded to a report of a 36-year-old male subject causing a disturbance. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct.  Drugs were located in the subject's personal belongings at the jail. The subject was also charged with possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance (mushrooms), and possession of drug paraphernalia.

West/Crash – 11:32am: Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash with reports of injuries. Minor injuries sustained. Investigation continuing.

Midtown/Domestic Disturbance – 12:02pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 26-year-old male subject. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who remains at-large.

East/Check Person – 2:13pm: A subject who made suicidal statements was transported to a local hospital by MFD. Journey Mental Health plugged in.  Final outcome pending.

Midtown/Armed Robbery – 5:46pm: A victim reported having a gun pointed at them and their wallet stolen by an unknown male subject. Investigation continuing.

Midtown/Runaway Juvenile – 8:57pm: A 17-year-old male subject was reported as missing/runaway. Attempt to locate aired. Areas checked. The subject was located safe.

10/19

Priority calls only from 8:01pm to 10:32pm due to calls for service.

Midtown/Check Person – 1am: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject (24-year-old male) walking in the street. The subject was contacted and found to be incapacitated due to alcohol. The subject was transported to detox, where he become uncooperative. The subject was transported to a local hospital where he continued to be uncooperative and kicked an officer. The subject was arrested for battery to a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct.

West/Runaway Juvenile – 1:25am: A 14-year-old male subject was reported as missing/runaway. Attempt to locate aired. The juvenile was listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases.

Central/Intoxicated Driver – 1:38am: A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver/vehicle fled. The driver/vehicle was located nearby by another officer. The driver (40-year-old male) was contacted and found to be impaired. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence and eluding.

East/Domestic Disturbance – 7:02am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 26-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and battery.

North/Death Investigation – 8am: Officers responded to a residence for a report of a deceased subject (101-year-old female). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.

Central/Check Person – 10:10am: Officers responded to check the welfare of a subject. The subject was transported to a local hospital where they were voluntary.  Officers disengaged.  

North/Domestic Disturbance – 12:11pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 53-year-old male subject. Probable cause developed to arrest/charge the subject with domestic disorderly conduct and battery.

East/Check Person – 7:43pm: Officers responded to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject was transported to a local hospital.  Final outcome pending.

South/Disturbance – 8:37pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 25-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for battery, disorderly conduct, and several counts of bail jumping.

South/Disturbance – 9:17pm: Officers responded to an on-going disturbance where shots were fired and a dog was struck by gunfire. Shell casings located. Dog was transported to an emergency vet and unfortunately succumbed to their injuries. Investigation continuing.

Central/Stolen Auto – 1:02am: A traffic stop was conducted and the driver (19-year-old female) fled. The vehicle came back as stolen. Tire deflation devices deployed successfully. The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent, 2nd degree reckless endangering safety, eluding, and resisting.

North/Check Person – 2:57am: Officers responded to a report of a suicidal subject on a bridge. The subject was contacted and transported to a local hospital. Final outcome pending.

South/Adult Arrested Person – 4:01am: A 24-year-old female subject was arrested on a felony warrant.

Midtown/Adult Arrested Person – 7:48am: A traffic stop was conducted and the driver/subject (40-year-old male) was arrested on 2 outstanding warrants. The subject was also issued a speeding ticket (97mph on the Beltline).

Central/Death Investigation – 9:37am: Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (48-year-old female). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified at this time. Autopsy pending.

West/Adult Arrested Person – 11:24am: A traffic stop was attempted by Fitchburg PD and the driver/vehicle fled into Madison. MPD deployed tire deflation devices, which was successful. A 21-year-old male subject was arrested for resisting, eluding, and cited for numerous traffic violations.

West/Death Investigation – 1:19pm: Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (45-year-old female). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified at this time.

North/Domestic Disturbance – 1:25pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 39-year-old male subject. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who remains at-large.

Central/Disturbance – 7:15pm: Officers responded to a fight in progress involving two subjects. A 27-year-old male subject was arrested for resisting causing injury, disorderly conduct, misdemeanor bail jumping, and felony bail jumping. A 42-year-old male subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and a probation violation.

West/Disturbance – 8:07pm: Officers responded to a report of a large disturbance. A 30-year-old female subject and a 22-year-old male subject were arrested for disorderly conduct while armed.

Central/Adult Arrested Person – 8:38pm: A traffic stop was conducted. The passenger (40-year-old male) was arrested for possession of meth.

West/Domestic Disturbance – 9:10pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 60-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic battery.

South/Disturbance – 12:03am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 25-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and an outstanding warrant.
