The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 10/25/2024 through 6:00 a.m. on 10/28/2024, MPD received 1,311 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (304),East (229), Midtown (201), North (213), South (143), West (190), and Other (31). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Priority calls only from 11:50am to 3:21pm due to calls for service.

East/Intoxicated Driver – 5:52am: Officers responded to a disturbance taking place inside a running vehicle in a parking lot. A 30-year-old male subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense).

West/Battery – 10:32am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 19-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for 2nd degree sexual assault, strangulation, battery, felony bail jumping, and a DOC hold.

West/Weapons Offense – 11:36am: Officers responded to numerous callers reported hearing a shot fired inside the mall. Video showed two subjects near a cell phone store when one of them pulled out a gun and fired toward another person across the hallway. The involved subjects ran out of the mall and fled in a vehicle. Incident Report on MPD's website completed. Investigation continuing.

North/Weapons Offense – 12:34pm: Officers responded to a report of a subject shooting out of a sunroof of a vehicle around Portage Rd/Hayes Rd. A traffic stop was conducted and a 32-year-old male subject was arrested for 2nd degree reckless endangering safety. A firearm was recovered.

West/Adult Arrested Person – 6:22pm: A 23-year-old male subject contacted 911 several times with no emergencies. The subject was educated several times about how/when to call 911.  The behavior continued. The subject was arrested for unlawful use of emergency telephone.

Central/Adult Arrested Person – 10:28pm: A 37-year-old male subject pulled out a knife and attempted to rob a staff member at a business. The subject was arrested for attempted armed robbery.

West/Check Area – 12:55am: Officers responded to Elver Park for numerous reports of shots fired. Several vehicles were found to have been struck by gunfire. Casings located/recovered. No reported injuries at this time. Investigation continuing.

Central/Adult Arrested Person – 1:35am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 22-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct.

Central/Disturbance – 2:16am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 34-year-old male subject. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who remains at-large. *Subject turned himself in (battery, disorderly conduct, and mayhem). Incident Report on MPD's website completed.

North/Crash – 11:16am: Officers responded to a three-vehicle crash involving two vehicles that were potentially racing. Minor injuries reported. A 16-year-old male driver and a 22-year-old male driver were cited for reckless driving.

North/Adult Arrested Person – 1:06pm: Officers responded to a report of a 36-year-old male subject who jumped over a fence at the Armed Forces Reserve Center and was going through vehicles. The subject was arrested for trespassing and possession of meth.

West/Missing Adult – 4:58pm: A 23-year-old female subject was reported missing from a group home. Attempt to locate aired. The subject was listed as missing in the appropriate databases. *Subject returned home safe.

Central/Adult Arrested Person – 5:54pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 33-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting, felony bail jumping, and outstanding warrants.

East/Strong Armed Robbery – 8:50pm: Officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving 7 subjects. The victim reported being threatened by the group. The victim had their phone damaged by the group. The subject was then assaulted by the group. 3 of the 7 subjects were located/detained. Charges include strong armed robbery (party to a crime), battery, and criminal damage to property. Subjects: 14-year-old male, 14-year-old female, and 15-year-old female.

Priority calls only from 3:17am to 6:19am due to calls for service.

Central/Check Area – 2:27am: Officers responded to W. Gilman/N. Broom St for a report of shots fired and a disturbance. Two victims were located with gunshot wounds. Both were transported to local hospitals. A 31-year-old male subject was detained and arrested on outstanding warrants. Investigation continuing.

Midtown/Mental Health Conveyance – 7:58am: Officers responded to a local hospital for a subject in need of an emergency detention. The subject was admitted to a local facility.

East/Stolen Auto – 9:17am: A vehicle was reported stolen. The vehicle was located/recovered.

Midtown/Domestic Disturbance – 11:17am: Officers responded to a disturbance. Probable cause not developed. A 46-year-old male subject was found to have bail conditions to not be around the other party. Both subjects not cooperative. The subject was arrested for misdemeanor bail jumping.

Central/Check Area – 12:21pm: A caller reported that a subject waved a gun at them while they were driving. Investigation continuing.

West/Death Investigation – 3:51pm: Officers received a request to check the welfare of two elderly residents. Entry made to the residence and both subjects were located deceased (89-year-old male and 88-year-old female). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.  

North/Adult Arrested Person – 3:55pm: A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle with expired plates and a possible occupant with an outstanding warrant. The passenger/confirmed subject with an outstanding warrant (26-year-old male) lied about his identity and began to fight with officers. The subject was arrested for the outstanding warrant (child neglect causing death), resisting, and a DOC hold.

Central/Disturbance – 5:04pm: Officers responded to a disturbance between two subjects. A 42-year-old male subject was arrested for trespassing and a probation hold. A 27-year-old female subject was arrested for disorderly conduct.

East/Mental Health Conveyance – 6:28pm: A subject was placed into protective custody and transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. Journey Mental Health plugged in. An emergency detention was sought/approved. The subject was turned over to a third-party transport agency for transport/placement.

North/Disturbance – 10:53pm: Officers responded to a 911 disconnect call and located a vehicle in traffic. Two subjects emerged from the woods. A subject was observed with a black eye. A 22-year-old female subject was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct. Probable cause developed to arrest another subject, who remains at-large.

North/Domestic Disturbance – 12:20am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 33-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and battery.
