The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 1/03/2025 through 6:00 a.m. on 1/06/2025, MPD received 1,038 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (145),East (240), Midtown (175), North (178), South (129), West (146), and Other (25). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Central/Adult Arrested Person – 2:46am: Officers observed short-term drug traffic between two vehicles. A traffic stop was conducted. Two subjects (54-year-old female and 42-year-old male) were contacted. The male subject was ultimately arrested on a probation hold. The female subject was arrested for possession with intent to deliver cocaine, carrying a concealed weapon, bail jumping (3 counts), and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Midtown/Death Investigation – 6:24am: Officers responded to a pulseless non-breathing subject (49-year-old male). The call notes were updated by dispatch to advise that the subject was deceased. Medical Examiner's office responded. History of drug use for the decedent. Nothing suspicious identified.

Midtown/Death Investigation – 7:01am: Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (72-year-old female). Medical Examiner's office responded. Caregiver located the subject on the floor.  A do-not-resuscitate order in place.

North/Injured Person – 8am: A subject was dropped off at a hospital with a stab wound. The person has life-threatening injuries. Incident Report on MPD's website completed - https://www.cityofmadison.com/police/newsroom/incidentreports/incident.cfm?id=32304. Investigation continuing.

South/Child Abuse – 10:38am: Child Protective Services requested MPD respond reference a child abuse investigation. Probable cause developed to arrest a 35-year-old male subject (not on scene). Safety planning reference the child completed. Subject remains at-large.

West/Check Person – 12:15pm: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject was contacted, voluntarily conveyed to a local hospital for an evaluation, and left in the care of medical staff.

East/Disturbance – 5:51pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 16-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and transported to the Juvenile Reception Center.

East/Intoxicated Driver – 7:58pm: A traffic stop was conducted on a driver/vehicle swerving. The 47-year-old female driver was found to be impaired. There were two children in the vehicle. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence with passengers under the age of 16 (2nd offense).

East/Disturbance – 8:15pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 23-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety.

West/Domestic Disturbance – 11:01pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 17-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct while armed.

North/Check Person – 2:39am: Officers responded to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject was contacted, placed into custody, and transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. Final outcome pending. *Subject admitted to local facility and officers disengaged.

North/Disturbance – 4:13am: Officers responded to a 911 disconnect. Officers made contact with a subject who reported several other subjects were involved and had fled prior to officers arriving. A 36-year-old female subject (not on scene) has outstanding probable cause for swatting. A 53-year-old male subject was contacted and found to have an unrelated probation/parole warrant – he was arrested and transported to jail.

Midtown/Domestic Disturbance – 7:39am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 22-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and a probation hold.

East/Death Investigation – 12:47pm: Officers responded to a report of an unresponsive subject (104-year-old female). The subject was pronounced deceased. Nothing suspicious identified.

City-Wide/Assist Police – 2:02pm: MPD was requested by Monona PD to assist with an armed suicidal subject. Officers, K9 Officers, and SWAT negotiators responded. The subject was ultimately taken into custody without incident. Monona PD has the lead on this incident.

Central/Adult Arrested Person – 2:35pm: A 26-year-old male subject was yelling and charged at EMS personnel who were on a separate call. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct. The subject kicked a deputy at jail and attempted to headbutt an officer. Additional charges added for battery to law enforcement, resisting, and misdemeanor bail jumping.

Midtown/Check Person – 2:44pm: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject (56-year-old male). Entry made to the residence and the subject was located deceased. Decedent had health/medical concerns. Nothing suspicious identified.

Central/Adult Arrested Person – 6:21pm: A 57-year-old male subject was identified as the subject who stole a purse from a retirement center. The subject was located and arrested on theft charges.

West/Child Abuse – 7:15pm: Officers responded to a report of a disturbance. A 44-year-old male subject was arrested for physical abuse of a child.

West/Stolen Auto – 7:50pm: Two subjects reported they were in a vehicle when the front window was shattered, they were ordered out of the vehicle at gunpoint, and the vehicle was stolen. Varying details provided by the two subjects, who stopped providing information to the officers, and walked away. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.

Central/Injured Person – 8:11pm: Officers responded to a report of subject who had been stabbed. Numerous subjects fled the area as officers responded. The subject was found to have been struck with a glass bottle and was not stabbed. The subject was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Investigation continuing.

Midtown/Death Investigation – 10:14pm: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (70-year-old female). A do-not-resuscitate order was in place. The subject was on hospice. Nothing suspicious identified.

Midtown/Adult Arrested Person – 10:22pm: A 28-year-old male subject was taken into custody on multiple domestic-related felony charges.

North/Adult Arrested Person – 5:03am: Officers responded to a report of an unwanted subject (19-year-old female). The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, unlawful trespassing, and felony bail jumping.

North/Disturbance – 9:59am: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 21-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and misdemeanor bail jumping (2 counts).

Midtown/Adult Arrested Person – 1:58pm: Officers received a request to check the area for a suspicious person (28-year-old male) checking car doors. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and a probation hold.

Central/PNB – 3:35pm: Officers responded, along with EMS, to a report of a subject who collapsed and was pulseless and not breathing. The subject was provided medical aid and transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Nothing suspicious identified. The subject has significant health issues.  

North/Death Investigation – 5:33pm: Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (62-year-old female). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.  

East/Stolen Auto – 6:30pm: Officers responded to a report of a stolen auto. The vehicle owner and a second subject went looking for the vehicle, located it, and physically assaulted the subject who took the vehicle. A 32-year-old female subject was arrested for substantial battery and a probation violation. A 23-year-old male subject was arrested for substantial battery. The 34-year-old male subject who stole the vehicle was transported to a local hospital where he required stitches for his injuries. The subject actively resisted officers. The subject was medically cleared and arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent and resisting.

East/Disturbance – 8:04pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 15-year-old male subject (not on scene when officers arrived). Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who remains at-large.

Central/Adult Arrested Person – 8:07pm: Officers responded to a report of a 42-year-old male urinating in public. The subject was contacted and placed under arrest. The subject was arrested for depositing human waste, trespass after notification, and misdemeanor bail jumping.
