City-Wide Notable Calls 03/07/2025 to 03/10/2025

The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 03/07/2025 through 6:00 a.m. on 03/10/2025, MPD received 1,295 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (266), East (268), Midtown (211), North (203), South (142), West (176), and Other (29). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

03/07
Priority calls only from 7:20 p.m. to 8:19 p.m. due to calls for service.

CENTRAL: Sexual Assault – 8:39 a.m.  A woman reported being sexually assaulted by an unknown male. Investigation ongoing.

NORTH: Check Property – 12:58 p.m. The Madison Fire Department burned a house on this side of the city for training which generated several calls for service.

SOUTH: Check Person – 2:28 p.m.  A group home resident became upset and began breaking windows and causing damage. Mental health professionals consulted.

WEST: Adult Arrested Person – 5:24 p.m. A 62-year-old man with outstanding probable cause was taken into custody.

NORTH: Damage to Property – 9:16 p.m. A physical argument broke out between family members. A 63-year-old male was arrested for domestic strangulation, battery and criminal damage to property.

CENTRAL: Domestic Disturbance – 9:42 p.m. A 30-year-old man was arrested on outstanding probable cause and two additional charges of unlawful use of a telephone and unlawful use of computerized communication systems.

Priority calls only from 11:46 p.m. to 12:46 a.m. on March 9 due to calls for service.


EAST: Disturbance – 2:08 a.m. A 59-year-old man repeatedly called 911 while intoxicated. He was cited for misuse of 911.

MIDTOWN: Unwanted Disturbance – 5:48 a.m. Staff of a convenience store called after a banned person arrived on the premises and refused to leave. A 63-year-old man was arrested for unlawful trespass after notification.

WEST: Death Investigation – 10:59 a.m. – Management of a senior living apartment reported a resident missing. The resident was located deceased.

NORTH: Weapons Offense – 11:58 a.m. Officers were dispatched to Straubel Ct. for a shooting. Officers arrived to find a man injured. He was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

EAST: Conveyance– 4:21 p.m. A woman was experiencing a mental health crisis and taken to a medical facility.

North: Traffic Stop – 6:44 p.m. An officer observes an equipment violation and conducts a traffic stop. Driver taken into custody for resisting.

WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 6:58 p.m. A woman made stabbing motions with a steak knife while arguing with a man. She left the area as police were called. The woman was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct while armed near the home.

SOUTH: Check Person – 7:08 p.m. A man is found unresponsive and taken to the hospital. Drug paraphernalia located at the scene.
 
EAST: Assist Citizen – 8:40 p.m. Officer comes across a disabled vehicle. Driver taken to the hospital for medical needs.

WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 11:17 p.m. A woman called after a man was choking her dog. The two then got into a physical disturbance, with the man advancing toward the woman. The man was then bit by the dog. The man was taken to the hospital for treatment and arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and mistreatment of animals.

WEST: Weapons Offense – 11:42 p.m. Officers respond to a threats complaint where a neighbor displayed a gun following a dispute over a parked vehicle.  A search yields two facsimile handguns. A 24-year-old man is arrested for disorderly conduct while armed.

CENTRAL: Domestic Disturbance – 1:27 a.m. Officers notice a disturbance between two people by a vehicle. They get into the vehicle and attempt to flee from officers. The vehicle eventually is stopped and a man is arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and arrested for obstruction and probation hold.

NORTH: Disturbance – 1:30 a.m. A man was arrested after entering a stranger's house.

NORTH: Disturbance – 4:43 a.m. A man confronted his neighbor about loud noises. The incident turned physical. One man was arrested for substantial battery and the other for disorderly conduct.

EAST: Threats Complaint – 11:17 a.m. A woman and man were attempting to corral their dog that had gotten lose when this upset a neighbor. The neighbor threated to shoot them and the dog. The neighbor also armed himself with a hammer and began striking the ground. The neighbor was arrested for disorderly conduct and the dog owners were cited for dog running at large.

SOUTH: Battery – 12:48 p.m. A man physically assaulted a woman during a dispute over a rental vehicle. Probable cause developed to arrest him for battery and disorderly conduct.

EAST: Retail Theft– 2:09 p.m. A man stole several pairs of shoes from a store at the mall. Officers located him nearby with the shoes. The man was arrested for resisting, retail theft, bail jumping and possession of drug paraphernalia.

MIDTOWN: Death Investigation – 4:07 Neighbors and building management have not heard from a resident. He is located inside his unit deceases. Nothing suspicious located at the scene.

EAST: Check Person– 4:32 Offices were dispatched to a man jumping in and out of traffic. Officers talked with the man and he ran off to a wooded area and armed himself with a branch. Officers, a K-9 team, and drone coverage were used. Officers were able to take the subject into custody. Man had multiple warrants and was arrested after being medically cleared at a local hospital.

SOUTH: Battery – 5:22 p.m. A man and woman were attacked by a man known to them. Probable cause developed for battery, substantial battery and disorderly conduct.

EAST: Death Investigation – 6:08 p.m. Neighbors notice a man unresponsive in a hot tub and call 911. Nothing suspicious found at the scene.

SOUTH: Check Person– 6:08 p.m. A teenager calls for help saying she is suicidal and has as gun. Teen is babysitting children when officers arrive. Investigation finds shots were fired but no one was injured. Teen is taken to the hospital for help. The mother of the children is called home from work. Child Protective Services also notified.

EAST: Person with a Gun – 8:41 p.m. Officers are called after someone reports a man is armed with a gun and arguing with a woman. The man is not at the home when police arrive but contacts the woman. Other officers attempt a traffic stop by the man eludes. The vehicle is seen again a short time later and spikes are deployed. The vehicle flees and is found nearby with the driver running away. A perimeter is set up and a K-9 unit and drone were used to help locate the man. He was found hiding in a garage and taken into custody without incident. He was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, eluding and on multiple warrants.
