Over the past several years in early October, the YWCA organizes and hosts a conference exploring racial justice issues in our society. At last year's conference, the Wisconsin Council on Children and Families released their much discussed "Race to Equity" report. Over the past year, the YWCA has been at the forefront, along with others, creating greater awareness around the significant racial disparities that exist here in Dane County and throughout Wisconsin. This week, the YWCA once again hosted their annual conference with the theme "Advancing the Equity Agenda: Upstream Solutions for Downstream Problems." MPD is proud to have staff in attendance as we certainly want to do our part in examining and creating strategies to make Madison and Dane County a fair, just and equitable home for all. This year's YWCA conference was a "sell out" with nearly 600 persons registered and in attendance. We would like to extend our congratulations to YWCA CEO Rachel Krinsky, Racial Justice Director Colleen Butler, and all the staff at the YWCA on another very successful conference. Thank you for your efforts in this very important area!
