SNOW EMERGENCY ZONE

WHAT IS THE SNOW EMERGENCY ZONE?

Snow Emergency Zone MapThe Snow Emergency Zone is in the Downtown Isthmus area of Madison. The congested parking in this area makes it difficult for residents to comply with the regular Alternate Side Parking rules. The Snow Emergency Zone was established to minimize inconvenience and frequent ticketing of area residents, but still allow snowplows to clear the streets and other emergency vehicles to have access.

Where do you park during a Declared Snow Emergency?

Off street is best. Free parking is available between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. in the cashiered sections of City-owned parking ramps, and also at some City parks.
  • When parking in the ramps overnight, do not park on the top level so this area can be plowed.
    - Be aware that vehicles stored in city ramps longer than 48 hours are subject to being ticketed and towed.

Meters in lots and ramps are enforced 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.

  • Parking is also available at Britingham Park Shelter lot off of West Washington Avenue.
