The City of Madison's New Computer Recycling Program

 

The City of Madison now has a year round drop off recycling of computers, TV's, and consumer electronics.  This new program replaces the twice a year computer roundups.  The roundups will no longer be held.

We no longer collect Computer Monitors, Laptops, Computer CPU's and Televisions at the curb.  These items must now be brought to our two full service drop off sites for recycling.

What We Accept For Recycling

The Following Items Require a $10 Fee

CPU's  

Monitors

Laptop Computers

Televisions

(NOTE: the 2008 Recyclopedia states that the fee for TV's is $15.  We have decided to lower the fee to $10)

         Scanners        Mouse             

         Printers          Cables             

     Stereo components          VCR's  

            

   Cell Phones     Telephones

      DVD Players      Typewriters 

Video Game Consoles  Ink Jet Cartridges

 

Drop Off Locations and Hours of Operation

Locations:

  • East: 4602 Sycamore Ave.
  • West: 1501 W. Badger Rd.

 

Hours of Operation:

    December 3rd through March 30th

       Monday through Friday 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.

    March 31st through December 2nd

  • Monday 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday 8:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
  • Thursday 8:30 a.m. until 8:00p.m.
  • Friday 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
  • Saturday 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
  • Sunday 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Paying the Recycling Fee

You must purchase a $10 fee sticker for each item which requires a fee.  Stickers are NOT sold at the drop off sites.  They are available at our offices, during regular business hours, at all Madison Public Libraries, and on line at www.madisonpay.com.

There are two private firms that offer collection of old electronics for a fee.  Those firms are;
