Yard Waste Sites

The Streets Division has three yard waste drop-off sites for the use of City of Madison residents ONLY. All three yard waste drop-off sites accept the following:

  • Leaves
  • Grass clippings
  • Garden debris
  • Flowers and other plant waste. The sites will also accept
  • Shrub trimmings shorter that 18”. Tree and shrub trimmings longer than 18” are considered brush. Brush is accepted at the 1501 W. Badger Rd. and 4602 Sycamore Ave. sites only. Do not bring brush to 402 South Point Rd
  • Garlic Mustard, should be placed in the trash.  For details....

The Yard Waste Sites will only accept small amounts of sod (4 or 5 five gallon pails per day).  Larger amounts of sod must be taken directly to the Dane County Compost Sites.  For details on these locations see the link at the bottom of this page.

Don't Forget Your Pumpkins!

Give your old Jack-O-Lanterns a new life by sending them to the compost site along with your leaves. You can bring your pumpkins and other organic fall decorations such as corn stalks and straw to the yard waste drop off sites and they will be sent off from composting. 

Locations:

  • EAST: 4602 Sycamore Ave.
  • SOUTH: 1501 W. Badger Rd.
  • WEST: 402 South Point Rd. (Brush will not be accepted)

Hours of Operation:

  • Monday 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday 8:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
  • Thursday 8:30 a.m. until 8:00p.m.
  • Friday 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
  • Saturday 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
  • Sunday 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The sites will remain open through Sunday December 6th.

Dane County Compost Sites

You can also take your yard waste directly to one of the Dane County Compost Sites. There is a site in Verona that may be more convenient for some Madison Residents.
