District 19 and Meeting and Event Highlights for the Week of September 16, 2024

In the D19

• D19 budget information session: My first meeting to gather your recommendations on budget cuts will take place at the Oakwood Village auditorium on Wednesday, September 18. I mailed a notice to all D19 residents, and I'll publish more details before the meeting.
• The West Area Plan: The Common Council approved the plan last Tuesday, September 10. I'll blog separately about those features that particularly impact District 19.
• Stormwater amendment: An amendment to Madison's stormwater ordinance which I authored was approved by the Board of Public Works last Wednesday, September 11. The amendment adds guidance on designing infiltrations systems. It goes before the Common Council on September 24. I'll blog separately about how it impacts District 19.
• Water main flushing: Again this coming week the Madison Water Utility will be flushing mains in District 19 east of Gammon and between Mineral Point and Old Sauk.

• D19 Exploring the 2025 Budget Series - Session 1: BRT and its Impact on the City Budget, Wednesday, September 18: Join District 19 Alder John Guequierre as he leads a series of three educational sessions to provide residents with an in-depth look at the City of Madison budget. Topics at each session will include a brief overview of the budget deficit and need for multi-year plans, a deeper dive into a few complicated issues, initial 5-year plans with and without a successful referendum, and agency proposals for cuts. Since service reductions may ultimately be required regardless of referendum results, Alder Guequierre is seeking your input on cuts. Residents will have the opportunity to speak personally at the two in-person sessions, through chat at the virtual session, and via an on-line survey at all sessions.
