How Do I Register at a Meeting?
You may fill out a registration statement at the Common Council meeting starting at 6:00 p.m. Registration statements are expressly meant for those individuals attending the Common Council meeting.
Early Public Comment: Following the public hearing portion of the Common Council meeting, persons who have reasons to leave the Council meeting early, due to health, scheduling issues or child-care needs, may speak to any agenda item at that time. The Council can pose questions to early speakers. (Ordinance creating Early Public Comment was adopted on 9/17/07 - Legislative File No. 06832)
If you are unable to attend the Common Council meeting there are a variety of ways to express your views on legislation. Please provide your comments by 3:00 p.m. the day of the Common Council meeting. After 3:30 p.m. Council staff cannot guarantee that your comments will be provided to the Common Council before the start of the meeting.

- Email or call your Common Council member.
If you are not sure who your alderperson is, you can do one of the following: - Email the Common Council using the online contact form.
- Call the Common Council Office at (608) 266-4071 to leave a message for the entire Common Council. Council staff will compile and forward messages to the Common Council members.
- Provide written comments. Please provide 20 copies of your written comments. Comments can be mailed to or dropped off at:
