Please Keep in Mind

  • Cash is not accepted on buses boarding at BRT stations. Buy single tickets and 1-ride passes using automatic ticket machines on most platforms.
  • Tap your Fast Fare card every time you ride. Transfers occur automatically in your account. You won't be charged within the 2-hour transfer window.
  • Paper transfers will not be accepted when boarding at BRT stations.
  • Have your pass or exact cash fare ready when boarding standard buses. 
  • Routes 80 – 84 on the University of Wisconsin campus are free to students, employees, affiliates and visitors to the University.

Paratransit Pricing

Though pricing will remain the same, new fare technology is expected to roll out to paratransit riders in 2025.

Current Fixed-Route Pricing

  • Items below will continue to be accepted on all buses until the launch of Metro's BRT system. 
  • Cash, paper transfers, and old fare items will not be accepted when boarding at BRT stations. 
  • Cash riders are asked to purchase fares at automatic ticket machines located on most BRT platforms.
  • Unused old fare items will be able to be traded in and added as value to new Fast Fare cards.
  • Cash and old fare items will be accepted on standard buses boarding at blue signs with metal poles going into 2025.
