Glacier Hill Park Sun Shelter and Master Plan

Last Updated: 07/18/2019

A new, open-sided, reservable sun shelter and asphalt walking path will be coming to Glacier Hill Park!

The location of these amenities was discussed at a public meeting in late 2018 and Parks brought the feedback received and reviewed the proposed projects with District 17 Alder Baldeh during a follow-up session in mid-February 2019. The master plan showing the locations of the shelter and asphalt walking path were brought to the Board of Park Commissioners (BPC) who approved the plan at their meeting on 3/13/2019 - materials from the public input meeting and BPC session can be found at the links, below.

The open-sided sun shelter construction project was bid in early June and the contract is in the process of being awarded to contractor Madison Commercial Landscapes, Inc., who submitted the only bid received for $63,972.00.  Work is anticipated to begin on the contract in September 2019 and be completed later this year.  Updates on the project and photographs when they become available will be posted to this site.  If you have questions or would like to provide comment on the project, please contact Project Manager Kate Kane at kkane@cityofmadison.com or (608) 261-9671.
