- West Area Plan Review Process: The final draft is now available The West area Plan was introduced at the Common Council meeting on July 16th. Boards, Commissions, and Committees will now review the draft Plan before it returns to the Common Council for a final vote on September 10th. This is an opportunity for the public to comment on the draft at each of the meetings listed below. Agendas and participation instructions can be found on the meeting information pages linked below, typically posted one week in advance.
- July 17 – Economic Development Committee (Watch the recording at the 1:27:47 mark)
- July 31 – Transportation Commission
- August 5 – Landmarks Commission
- August 14 – Urban Design Commission
- August 14 – Board of Park Commissioners
- August 26 – Plan Commission
- September 10 – Common Council (returns to the Common Council for a final vote)
- Common Council: The Common Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, August 6, in hybrid format at 6:30 p.m. Agenda items include taking public comment on a resolution authorizing the scheduling of a referendum relating to exceeding the municipal property tax limits, as well as a resolution limiting the granting of “Class A” liquor licenses for the purpose of limiting density and proximity of such licenses to sensitive sites.
- Sustainable Madison Committee: The Sustainable Madison Committee meeting will take place on Monday, August 5, in virtual format at 4:30 p.m. Agenda items include refining lawn and property maintenance provisions of Madison General Ordinances.
- Landmarks Commission: The Landmarks Commission meeting will take place on Monday, August 5, in virtual format at 5:00 p.m. Agenda items include adopting the Northeast Area Plan and adopting the West Area Plan.

HOW DO I PARTICIPATE IN COMMON COUNCIL MEETINGS? The Common Council generally holds meetings twice a month on Tuesdays, starting at 6:30 pm in hybrid format. Members of the public can participate in the following ways:

- Register for Public Comment
- Provide Comments before a Meeting

- Ride the Drive 2024, Sunday, August 11: It’s thousands of happy healthy people coming together to experience parks and open streets in a single, one-day, free, community event. Since the inaugural Ride the Drive in 2009, this event continues to celebrate Madison’s commitment to a healthy, active lifestyle focusing on the environmental and economic impacts and the importance of social integration.
- District 11 Book Club: "Gone for Good? Negotiating the Coming Wave of Church Property Transition?" (In-person only) Wednesday, Aug 14, 2024, 7:00pm to 8:30pm at the Sequoya Library. To explore the topic of evolving church and community property, the next District 11 Book Club will be a discussion of the 2024 book edited by Mark Elsdon, Gone for Good?: Negotiating the Coming Wave of Church Property Transition . Copies of the book are available for book club attendees to check out in advance at the Ask Desk at Sequoya Library, first-come first-served. The August 14 discussion will be facilitated by Alder Tishler with authors Mark Elsdon, Nadia Mian, and Curt Paulson. All community members are welcome to attend and bring a friend!
