And then...Proposed Development at East Washington @ Fair Oaks -- First Look Community Meeting: Thursday, January 23rd @ 6 p.m. (Hawthorne Library)
postedVölker Development is investigating the potential redevelopment of the properties located at 3361, 3365, 3371, 3375 E. Washington Avenue, and 922, 926 & 930 N. Fair Oaks Avenue [ Fair Oaks @ E. Washington Ave: across the street from the current Rise Apartments (which are currently being constructed on the former site of Bimbo Bakery)].
They are at the beginning of this process and want to get your input as they explore the potentially proposing this new development.
Völker Development would be proposing this development under the City's mandated Transit Oriented Development (TOD) plan which is under the City's Transit Oriented District (TOD) plan (think building out properties wherever the BRT is)
It should be noted that Volker Development has yet to decide if they are going to pursue this option and wants to explore this possibility with your input upfront (aka at the beginning of their process with the City).
The basics of what's what
The existing structures would be demolished, and a new, five-story multifamily building would be constructed. The new building would be comprised of one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Surface and underground parking plans include approximately 162 units, 150 automobile stalls and 160 bike stalls.
The proposal is a Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) affordable housing project.
A neighborhood meeting to hear more about this proposal is scheduled for Thursday, January 23, 2025, 6:00pm-7:30pm at Hawthorne Library, 2707 E. Washington Avenue.
After the development team’s presentation, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback. Representatives from the City's Planning and Traffic Engineering will be there to answer questions as well.
Please come. I value and appreciate your input (even if you have to give it over and over again).
Until then,
