Imagination Center at Reindhal Park + Sandburg Neighborhood Resource Team + Meeting and Event Highlights for the Week of September 16, 2024

posted

Hello there,

I'm a few weeks behind in everything so I appreciate your patience in my getting out a blog post. I've gotten regular emails over the last year about trash on the streets leading up to/away from the temporary mens shelter.  Over the last few weeks I've had several meetings to address this issue and help to find solutions. You should notice additional trash cans in the area soon.  I'm also working on a day to speak to guests of the shelter about helping to keep the area clean. Please do continue to share photos with me about trash in the area as that is usally how I learn about some issues.

Below you'll find:

  • We now have a Neighborhood Resource Team!
  • What happened to the proposed road through Sycamore Park?

GOOD NEWS! Sandburg/Motel Corridor Neighborhood Resource Team Launched!

One of the things I heard about very early on was the lack of resources in the greater Sandburg area as well as the lack of resources for families, couples and single adults utilizing the motels.  As I learned more about the district, I began to advocate for a Neighborhood Resource Team (NRT) to serve the Sandburg and motel areas. On the morning of August 27th, the NRT had it's first meeting!  I'll be sure to share updates and ways you can engage in the coming months.

Learn more about NRT's. If you'd like to share your feedback and/or get engaged with our newly formed Sandburg/Motel Corridor NRT please email me at district17@cityofmadison.com

Northeast Area Plan Update

In case you missed it, the potential road extension through Sycamore Park was removed from the Northeast Area Plan.  This would not have been possible without neighbors working together to reach out to Alders, start a petition (over 400 signatures), inform residents, and speaking at both committee meetings and at Common Council.  Many thanks to the residents who made time to meet with myself and Alder Field (District 3) in person at Sycamore Park.

Check out this article from The Cap Times for a recap.
