Imagination Center at Reindhal Park, Shooting on Thompson Drive, Sandburg Neighborhood Resource Team, Winter Parking Rules are in Effect Citywide Tonight
postedHello neighbors,

This additional blog post includes items you may interested in as a resident of District 17:
- Project Update: Imagination Center at Reindahl Park:
- February 14, 2025 Update: The Project status has been updated to BIDDING! Please see the Project Schedule for links to the bid documents and pre-register for the virtual contractor Bid-Talk meeting.
- Recent gun violence on Thompson Drive: The recent shooting happened at 200 N Thompson Drive. While the address is located in bordering District 3, I have reached out to both Alder Field and Captain Marshall about the incident and at that time there had not yet been an arrest. Alder Field shares more in his blog post.
- "We are asking that anyone in the North Thompson Drive or Swanton Road area with Ring doorbell footage, other camera footage, or any other information about the incident last night to please reach out to contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014 or online at p3tips.com(link is external). Information may be shared anonymously."
- Reminder: the Sandburg Neighborhood Resource Team was formed over the summer and has been meeting monthly to get set up, set goals, and identify boundaries. I attended last week and there was great conversation around planning for a really popular summer event coming to the district (more details to come), and I suggested we work to create a resource guide to be shared with Sandburg area families who may need help over the summer months. Madison Declares a Snow Emergency; Winter Parking Rules are in Effect Citywide Tonight
The City of Madison has declared a snow emergency to help the ongoing effort to clear snow from the roads.
Street Parking Tonight During the Snow Emergency
Alternate side parking rules are in effect for the entire City of Madison, including the Snow Emergency Zone.
Alternate side parking is only enforced from 1:00am to 7:00am.
- Tonight (2/16/25 into the morning of 2/17/25), park on the side of the street with odd house numbers so your car is on the correct side of the street when alternate side parking is enforced.
- Tomorrow night (2/17/25 into the morning of 2/18/25), park on the side of the street with even house numbers so your car is on the correct side of the street when alternate side parking is enforced.
- Make sure you also follow all parking rules posted on street signs.
There is a $60 fine if you do not follow winter parking rules. If your car is towed, there is also a $115 towing fee.
Call the winter parking hotline at 608-261-9111 to hear recorded information about alternate side parking.
Free Overnight parking in City Garages
You can park for free at City garages with cashiers from 9pm – 7am during a snow emergency.
If you enter before 9pm or leave after 7am, you will need to pay parking fees during the extra time.
- Do not park on the top level. We need to plow this area.
- Do not park in metered areas. Free parking is only available in the cashiered areas.
- Do not park in a City garage for for more than 48 hours.
You can also park at the Brittingham Park Shelter parking lot on W Washington Ave.
How You Can Help with the Snow Clean Up
Please park off the street if you can. Fewer obstacles make it safer and faster for us to plow the roads.
Do not put trash and recycling carts in the street. Put them in your driveway or a cleared area of the terrace.
