Firefighter Fun Day Comes to the North Side!
postedDear Northside Neighbors,
I’m excited to announce a special event happening right in our community—Firefighter Fun Day! This is your chance to meet our incredible firefighters and explore the world behind the fire station doors. For the first time ever, in response to popular demand, Firefighter Fun Day is coming to Fire Station 10, located at 1517 Troy Drive!
Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 15, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, when our very own Northside firefighters will be hosting this free, family-friendly event. Plus, if you can't make it this Sunday, there’s another opportunity the following weekend! Fire Station 9, at 201 N. Midvale Boulevard, will be hosting its Firefighter Fun Day on Saturday, September 21, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
What to Expect:
- Fire station and fire truck tours: Get an up-close look at the fire engines, and see where our local heroes work and live while they protect us 24/7.
- Free food and refreshments: Bring your appetite! The event promises delicious snacks for the whole family.
- Live DJ: There will be music to keep the fun going all afternoon.
- Face painting: Perfect for kids of all ages.
- New this year: Madison Fire Department EMTs and paramedics will be hosting “Sidewalk CPR”. This is your chance to learn hands-only CPR—a simple, lifesaving skill that everyone should know. Stop by, practice, and leave feeling more prepared to help in an emergency!
Parking & Other Details:
Street parking will be available in the neighborhoods surrounding both fire stations. Please note, all children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
A Day to Celebrate Our Community and First Responders
Firefighter Fun Day is more than just a chance to enjoy some food, music, and tours—it’s an opportunity to meet the men and women who serve our community day in and day out, without the rush of an emergency. It’s also made possible thanks to the great partnership with Fire Fighters Local 311, who’ve worked hard to bring this event to life.
About Our Local Fire Stations
Fire Station 10: Our beloved Northside firehouse is located across from Warner Park, serving the neighborhoods of Brentwood Village, Mendota Hills, Kennedy Heights, and more. Station 10 holds a special place in our hearts, paying tribute to Firefighter/EMT Richard Garner, whose legacy is honored with his gear on display and a tree planted in his memory on the station’s front lawn.
Fire Station 9: Over on the west side, Fire Station 9 has been serving the Sunset Village area for more than 60 years. The station is known for its community spirit, even hosting a pollinator garden donated by the Sunset Garden Club, which has earned the firehouse recognition as an official Monarch Waystation.
I encourage everyone to come out, meet your firefighters, and have a great time. These men and women are committed to keeping our community safe, and this is our chance to show them how much we appreciate their service!
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
In service,
Charles Myadze
