Madison Announces Updated Housing Priorities

posted

This week Madison announced its top four priorities for addressing the shortage of housing, especially affordable housing:

  1. Pursue more code and process changes to support small-scale "Missing Middle" housing.
  2. Continue strategic land banking purchases to support future affordable housing developments.
  3. Explore changes to TIF policy to further support affordable housing ("TIF" is tax increment financing).
  4. Commit another $32 million to the Affordable Housing Fund in the next two years.

I'm a legislative co-sponsor or advocate for all of these initiatives. To learn more, check out Tuesday's news release.
