City Meetings

Note: This is not a complete list of meetings for this upcoming week. All meetings and their details can be found at the Meeting Schedule page.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee meeting will take pl ace on Monday, February 3, at 4:30 p.m. in virtual format. Agenda items include an update on Federal Executive Orders and Directives to Pause Federal Grants and Loans. The Office of Management and Budget rescinded their initial memo freezing federal funds, but the White House has been insisting that the chaotic federal funding freezes remain a policy goal of the administration.

Plan Commission

The Plan Commission meeting will take place on Monday, February 3, at 5:30 p.m. in virtual format. Agenda items include accepting a progress update to the Madison Comprehensive Plan, as well as development-related requests (none n District 3).

Transportation Commission

The Transportation Commission meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 5 at 5:00 p.m. in virtual format. Agenda items include a Quarterly Traffic Safety Report from MPD for both the 3rd quarter and the 4th quarter of 2024. Both of these quarterly reports detail Citywide traffic incident statistics and Traffic Grant activity (“speed traps”). You’ll see that Milwaukee Street is featured prominently in the list of areas with regular traffic speed enforcement. My thanks to MPD officers for their attention to this area, which sees a lot of hazardous driving.

Rolling Meadows and Heritage Heights Neighborhood Meeting on the Southeast Area Pan Wednesday Feb 5th

The Rolling Meadows Neighborhood Association is hosting a neighborhood meeting with City Planning to discuss the Southeast Area Plan. Rolling Meadows leaders have agreed to invite residents of the neighboring Heritage Heights neighborhood to join their meeting too!

  • When: Wednesday, February 5th at 7:00 p.m.
  • Where: Pinney Library, 516 Cottage Grove Road

As a reminder, the Southeast Area Plan is an opportunity for residents to give input on their neighborhoods' land uses, transportation and traffic issues, park amenities, tree canopy, public art, and more, within the planning area which is generally bounded by WI Highway 30, Interstate 90, the City of Monona and Siggelkow Road. City Planning staff will use residents’ input to draft Plan recommendations this summer, which the public will also have more opportunities to review and provide more input later in this process.

Here are two great ways to provide input for the Southeast Area Plan right now!

Dream Lanes Alcohol License Public Meeting Tuesday Feb 4th

Dream Lanes (13 Atlas Court) has new potential buyers who have applied to the City for an alcohol license at this location. Dream Lanes is hosting a public meeting about the application on Tuesday, Feb 4th at 6:00 p.m. Their application is planned to be reviewed by the Alcohol License Review Committee in its February 19th meeting.
