Hiestand Park Disc Golf Course Temporary Closure

Spring brings mud, meaning we need to be gentle and patient with soggy turf in our parks to prevent damage. The Disc Golf Course at Hiestand Park is closed until further notice until ground conditions improve. Check this Parks disc golf webpage for updates and re-opening announcements.

Volunteers Needed for Dog Park Cleanup Day, April 5th

Spring also brings the need for clean-up work in our dog parks. Madison Parks organized a Dog Park Cleanup Day for Saturday, April 5th from 9am-11am, and will include both Sycamore Dog Park and North Star Dog Park in District 3. Volunteers are needed to assist with picking up trash and scooping up dog poop. Madison Parks will supply trash bags, gloves, scoopers, and buckets. You may bring your own gloves, scoopers, and additional bags.

Volunteers Needed for Earth Day Challenge Park Cleanup, April 26th

Celebrate Earth Day with your neighbors and friends by volunteering to clean up your local park! Join this community-wide volunteer effort on Saturday, April 26th from 10am-12pm to help make a difference. Accept the Earth Day Challenge with Madison Parks! We are seeking 900 volunteers at 60+ parks, located throughout the city to assist with trash pickup, raking, weeding, and removing sticks. We supply gloves, garbage bags and rakes. Rakes at each park will be based on the number of volunteers registered.

Register in Advance: All ages are welcome to participate. Advanced registration is required for anyone aged 14 years or older. Register online or by calling 608-266-4711. Here are the registration links for Earth Day Challenge cleanup events in District 3 parks:

Reservable Shelter Opening at Door Creek Park

As reported in a recent CaptTimes article, a long-planned park shelter is opening at Door Creek Park (not in District 3 but nearby) this spring in April or May. The new shelter will include reservable space with restrooms and kitchen features. This will be an exciting and conveniently-located new feature for park activities and events right here on the Far East Side.
