Thank you for attending the D7 Lunch and Learn featuring Interim Police Chief John Patterson and West District Captain Timothy Patton. As promised, I am following up with a few items.

Some of the questions from attendees include but were not limited to:

How will MPD supervise and support peer roles internally to maintain role integrity?
Will peer specialists be positioned as independent, trauma-informed roles, or will they be supervised within existing MPD structures? Are they state certified peers?
What oversight mechanisms will ensure peer work remains distinct from enforcement-based duties while being fully integrated into MPD’s wellness strategy?
Thoughts on the ability to enforce the 20-mph change?
In the previous decade, there were several incidents involving police involved shootings of unarmed civilians, and several other incidents that seemed to be excessive use of force by police against unarmed young people. However, in this decade I am not aware of this level of similar incidents. To what do you attribute this change?
Chief Patterson, I saw your interview on Channel 3 last night and appreciated your answer to the question about what traits/qualities you think are important in a Police Chief. Will you share that here?
Does Acting Chief Patterson support placing SROs back in Madison-area high schools if funding for additional personnel was available to MPD?
