Scheduling Inspections

You can request an inspection when you finish the work in an area. Do not schedule an inspection if the area is not ready. For most inspections, we cannot guarantee a time the inspector will be on site.

You can schedule same-day inspections before 8:30 am. Please note, you can schedule for a specific date, but not a specific time. If the inspection is indoors, please keep access in mind. Many people provide a lock box, garage code, or hide-a-key location for the inspector.

Call (608) 266-4551 ext. 1 to request an inspection. We are open business days between 7:00 am - 4:30 pm. We do not take inspection requests over voicemail or email.

Online

Contractors can schedule inspections through our citizen access portal. If you schedule online, you can see the inspection results in real time and the time the inspector was on site.

  1. Login on our citizen access portal.
  2. Click My Records.
  3. Click on the Record Number of the permit for which you need an inspection.
  4. Click on Record Info.
  5. Click Inspections.
  6. Click Schedule or Request an Inspection.
  7. Click the type of inspection you need, then click Continue.
  8. Choose a date and click Continue.
  9. Identify the on site contact or the person who did the work.
  10. Enter inspection instructions. Make sure you include how the inspector will get in to the site (access). If it's a partial inspection, include what area or units they need to look at.
