Gregory St, Cross St, Copeland St, and Western Ave Reconstruction

The proposed project is a street reconstruction that will include replacement of existing pavement, replacement and construction of curb and gutter, sidewalk, and driveway aprons. The existing sanitary sewer mains, sanitary sewer laterals, and water mains will be replaced and upgraded with the project. Storm sewer will be installed where there are no existing storm sewer systems. Construction of new sidewalk will occur on the south side of Gregory Street from Glenway Street to Western Avenue, on the east side of Western Avenue from Gregory Street to Cross Street and on the south side of Cross Street from Western Avenue to Gilmore Street.
Gregory Street - Glenway St to Baltzel St
Cross Street - Copeland St to Gilmore St
Copeland Street - Gregory St to Monroe St
Western Avenue - Gregory St to Monroe St
Construction is anticipated to begin in late April 2020 and continue until early October 2020.
Public Information Meeting
The City of Madison Board of Public Works held a Public Hearing on Wednesday 1 / 22 / 2020 in regards to the reconstruction project. At the meeting it was determined that the proposed sidewalk on the south side of Gregory Street from Glenway to Western and on the east side of Western Avenue from Gregory to Cross shall be removed from the improvement plans. The remaining proposed improvements shall remain as discussed by City Engineering staff.
A public hearing before the City of Madison Common Council was held on 2/ 4/ 2020 in which the reconstruction project Plans, Specifications, and Schedule of Assessments were approved.
