Project Description
In 2017, the original stone arch culvert under the Southwest Bike Path at Waite Circle began to fail. In 2017, as a result of the impending failure, the arch was slip lined with a 60-inch culvert during an emergency repair.
This project will reconstruct the culvert to a size similar to that of the existing arch, with provisions to modify the opening size once the Wingra West Watershed Study is complete. The culvert reconstruction will occur in late 2019. In addition to the culvert reconstruction, the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District Intercept beneath the culvert will be reconstruction and relocated adjacent to the proposed box culvert. Other minor repairs will be made to infrastructure in the immediate project area.
The City hosted a public information meeting to discuss the components of the project, including the bike path detour that will occur during construction. The presentation can be found: July 11 2019 Public Information Meeting Presentation.
