Accounting

City of Madison Accounting is responsible for implementation of the enterprise resource planning systems including the City’s electronic Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).  City Accounting serves as liaison to external auditors and develops and documents accounting policies and internal control procedures in conformance with applicable governmental accounting principles, standards, and practices. Key organizational areas include general and enterprise accounting, procurement, and payroll services.

The Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) is a summary of the City’s financial condition and related key indicators. 

Financial Statements

The City’s financial statements include details on money collected and spent each year in support of services provided to residents.  The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report includes details about the City’s key funds and activities.  

Special Assessments

Special Assessments are charges for improvements made to your property. They are billed during the year and are added to your property tax bill if they are unpaid at the end of the year.
