Meet Lieutenant Vince Soto
posted
Where are you stationed?
I’m a roving lieutenant on the ‘C’ shift.
What was your previous position?
Apparatus Engineer on Engine 14 (Dairy Drive) on the ‘C’ shift.
When did you join the MFD?
I was hired September of 2008.
What do you like about being a roving lieutenant?
As a roving lieutenant, I get to work in all areas of the city. This allows for a mixed variety of calls and unique experiences. Not knowing how each day is going to play out is one of the aspects of this profession that I love. Every day is completely different.
What’s the most memorable moment of the job that you’ve experienced?
One of my most memorable moments is when I was able to help deliver a baby boy at Station 5. We were having dinner when a call came in for an imminent delivery on the apron of the fire station. The ambulance was out at the time, so the crew of Engine 5 delivered the baby right in the bay.
