Meet Division Chief David Crossen

Tell us about your role as Division Chief of Special Events?

My role as Division Chief of Special Events serves as support to the department and City. We work alongside other City entities ensuring that events run smoothly and do not develop into incidents.

What was your career prior to MFD?

Prior to my employment with the Madison Fire Department, I was employed with the Janesville Fire Department as a firefighter.

What advice would you give to someone hoping to join the MFD?

Ask a ton of questions. Ask questions by way of our recruitment committee, current members, and retired members. The more questions asked, the better prepared you’ll be.

How do you spend your time when your off-duty?

I try my best to spend every waking minute with my family. We try to spend our time outdoors, enjoying the benefits of living in Wisconsin.
