Where are you stationed?
Station 6 (W. Badger Road) on the 'C' shift.
What was your career prior to MFD?
Prior to MFD, I worked for the Dubuque Fire Department and, prior to that, I worked for the Chicago Park District as a lifeguard and instructor. I also worked in a hospital as an ER Technician.
Why did you want to pursue this career?
Outside of the obvious answer that I enjoy helping people and being of service to the community, this career allows you to combine critical thinking with practical skills. It is both a physical job and a job where you need to think things through and make critical decisions. You never know what experiences the day will bring, and you get to work as part of a team.
Do you have any family in the EMS or fire service?
My grandfather, uncle, and father all worked for the Chicago Fire Department. I also have a cousin that works for the department in LaPorte County, Indiana.
