Looking back at the Recruit Academy, what do you remember the most?

What I remember most about the academy are the bonds I made with my classmates. For 22 weeks we spent more time together than we did with our own families. I also enjoyed Smoke Divers week. Every day was different and it mentally challenged you to push yourself to the breaking point.

One more thing I remember is to always have a full SCBA bottle, otherwise you will be pulling 5 inch!

What are some professional goals you have for yourself?

My number one goal is to become an Apparatus Engineer. I enjoy driving and the challenges that come along with it. I believe the role of AE would be equally demanding and fulfilling.

What do you do when you're not working at MFD?

I have three boys that keep me on my toes. I enjoy coaching their baseball teams and attending their sporting events. I also enjoy hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors. My wife and I own 10 acres south of Madison. You can usually find me in my shed working or completing land management projects on my property.
