Make Music Madison Returns June 21st
postedJune 21st is the first day of summer, and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than to embrace the rhythm of community and creativity. Make Music Madison, our annual one-day, free city-wide event is returning, so let’s come together with neighbors and friends and share our love of music.
Make Music Madison isn’t about a single genre or style, but it’s a symphony of diversity that flows through our city. Spend June 21st with us by hosting a concert, performing at one of our designated venues, or wandering the city and enjoying the music. The possibilities are endless, and the experience will be unforgettable.
Make Music Madison is part of the global Make Music Day movement, which sees over 1,000 cities worldwide unite with music every June 21st. Make Music Day is all about fostering community bonds through the universal language of music. Our local initiative was established in 2013 by a passionate group of residents, along with the invaluable backing of the City of Madison and the Madison Arts Commission, who continue to provide vital support for Make Music Madison.
Last year, Madison had the highest level of participation in North America with 196 venues, 621 concerts, and well over 1,500 musicians, all on this one day! This year we expect and encourage those numbers to rise, especially since Make Music Day falls on a Friday this year. Whether you’re a musician, venue owner, or someone who loves music, there are many ways to participate in Make Music Madison. You can register venues and sign up to perform at makemusicmadison.org until June 1st. There are no registration fees or limits to the amount of performers or locations in Madison, and all are welcome!
