Due to the work on the regional sewer network, westbound Route C will detour to Stevens St. and serve temporary stops at University Ave. at Highland Ave and at Farley Ave at University Ave.
There will be no bus stops on Stevens St.
This detour is expected to be in place for one day on Saturday May 17, and then for about two months from June 29 to August 19, depending on construction progress.
This detour will require some temporary parking restrictions on Stevens St. so that buses can operate reliably on Stevens St.
Westbound overnight parking will not be available, and some eastbound parking spaces will be temporarily removed.
“Do not enter” signs will be posted for eastbound traffic entering Stevens St. from Farley Ave.
About four buses per hour (four Route C buses and two Route E buses) per hour will be using Stevens St.
Metro appreciates everyone's patience during this important construction project.
This work will ensure that the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District’s West Intercepting System, which provides sanitary sewer service to the near west side of Madison, Middleton, Shorewood Hills, and Westport, is brought up to a state of good repair.
The sewer runs along the north side of Campus Dr. and requires various road closures around Campus Dr. and Highland Ave.
This project also affects Routes E, J, and R, please look for detours on those routes.
