Adding Infrastructure to Thrive and Expand

New North Side Facility

Metro has purchased and in the process of adapting a former warehouse on the north side of Madison into a second maintenance and bus storage facility.

This second facility will house Metro's new all-electric fleet that will launch with the start of BRT this fall.

In addition, the added storage capacity added by this new facility will give Metro the ability to expand to meet the needs of the ever-increasing transit demand of the community.

This northside maintenance facility is expected to open this summer!

Renovated East Side Facility

Metro has also recently finished major renovations of its current main facility on E. Washington Ave.

Repairs and upgrades included infrastructure to support to all-electric vehicles as well as needed safety improvements to keep Metro’s central maintenance hub running smoothly and efficiently.

Metro's main facility was originally built in the late 1970s with much of its infrastructure now well beyond useful life.

Electrical infrastructure has been upgraded to support all-electric vehicles and additional work bays and lifts have been added for more efficient maintenance and repairs of the entire fleet.
