We've Gotcha Covered
MPD Spreading Warmth Again This Holiday Season
Madison Police officers are looking forward to spreading the warmth again this winter as the MPD kicks off its fifth annual "We've Gotcha Covered" campaign; thanks to continued generous support from Door Creek Church, 6602 Dominion Dr. Officers are now armed with blankets, and hundreds of hats, gloves and mittens. They will keep them in squad car trunks, and distribute them throughout the community in need. When officers encounter people in need, be it a homeless person, or a family in a home where there is not much heat, they will offer to share some warmth. Madison Police Officers will also be delivering some items to not-for-profit agencies in the area whose clients are in need of a helping hand this holiday season. The program is managed by the department's crime prevention officer, Frank Chandler. Franks' daughter, Stephanie, is a student at Stoughton High School. She is also on the student council at the high school. She was so impressed by the "We've Gotcha Covered" program that she - along with her fellow student council members- decided to mirror it in Stoughton. The students will be collecting blankets, hats, gloves and mittens to be donated to the Stoughton Police Department, who will distribute those items to community members in need.
