Invest Madison Parks - Winter Food Drive Madison Parks will partner with Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin to host a Winter Food Drive Sunday, January 30 - Sunday, February 6. Donations of non-perishable foods and grocery products (personal care and cleaning items) will be accepted at all three Madison Park winter concession facilities, the Madison Park Administration Office and Warner Park Community Recreation Center. "Thousands of people in Madison and throughout southwestern Wisconsin struggle with hunger every day," said Dan Stein, President/CEO for Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin. "The Madison Parks Winter Food Drive is a great way community members can help their neighbors in need put more food on the tables to sustain active, healthy lives." "Healthy lifestyles center around the combination of a balance diet and physical activity," said Kevin Briski, Superintendent of Parks. "If community members have the energy they need, they are more apt to seek venues to play and exercise." The idea for the Madison Parks Winter Food Drive was sparked following a recent University of Wisconsin Women's Hockey event held at Vilas Park in anticipation of the Fill the Bowl Game; (http://www.uwbadgers.com/sports/w-hockey/spec-rel/012511aah.html ) on Saturday, January 29. During Fill the Bowl, attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, and Becker Law Office will donate $1 to Second Harvest Foodbank for each attendee.
