MPD OFFICER NAMED "TOP NOTCH TEACHER"
Award Slated To Be Televised Monday Night
A Madison Police Department (MPD) officer, assigned to the department's Safety Education Unit, has been named a Top Notch Teacher by local CBS affiliate WISC-TV. Officer Emily Samson is the first law enforcement officer to receive the award. Samson, a 10-year MPD veteran, is known for her signature smile and love for children. Over the past 5-years she has become a familiar face to students through her work as a MPD liaison to Madison's elementary schools. Officer Samson's work will be highlighted when she is presented the Top Notch Teacher award this coming Monday, March 7th, during WISC's 6:00 p.m. newscast. She has also been selected to receive an Outstanding Service Award, for her work with Madison school children, at the MPD's annual award ceremony this coming May. Emily and her husband, MPD Sgt. Dave Samson, have 3 of their own children: ages 2 through 5.
