
Edgerton Fire Department Requests Madison HazMat Team
Assistant Chief Kirby with Edgerton Fire Department reported, at 12:29 pm today, Edgerton Fire Department responded for diesel fuel in Saunders Creek in the Town of Albion. On arrival, they found fuel coming from a pipe at 580 Albion Rd. Edgerton Fire requested the Madison Hazardous Material Incident Team for assistance with the incident. The source of the diesel fuel was later found coming from the Winchester Oasis Restaurant. Madison Hazmat Team, Dane County Emergency Management and the DNR are on scene working together to clean up the product. Though the smell of diesel fuel may be present, it is found that there is no danger of fires or concerns to the wells. As of 5:20 pm - Everyone has been released from the scene. No injuries as a result of the incident. Amount of Diesel Fuel and cause is still under investigation. The scene has been turned over to the DNR. They ask everyone to stay out of Saunders Creek for 1 week, during the cleanup process.
