Bar, Beer Garden Checks on Tap for Opening Football Game

City of Madison Code Enforcement officers will be on hand this afternoon to conduct inspections of bars and beer gardens. The officers regularly conduct bar checks in the City to ensure code compliance. One source of concern is overcrowding that can inhibit egress in the event of an emergency evacuation. To address this and other issues, pre-inspections will be conducted prior to the game to ensure compliance. Inspectors will focus on bars near Camp Randall this evening. Throughout the year, bar checks are done in other areas of the City that see heavy patronage, including State St. Inspections will begin this afternoon at 4:00.
